Re: The OFFICIAL Word on the Y2KV and Dave Mustaine

Question is, if Dave is really retired, why would any other guitar company want him as an endorser? After all, it's not like he's going to be seen onstage playing it. At least with Jackson, Dave had a history with the company and was associated with the KV guitars. There probably is more to the story, but why can't Jackson just keep on making the model under a different name without the signature?

He's a trophy for ESP; he's one of Jackson's top artists regardless of what he's doing (or not doing) now.

Y2KVs rule. I dont care if somebody doesnt like them. Not everyone likes KVs either. I like um but just saying just cuz you dont like it doesnt make it ugly and no good. I love mine and think its one of the best dang guitars out there. I dont
know why people dont like it so much.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">It is Dave's design. Recently I posted links to the websites showing the Y2KV development. I'd bet he has the rights to it, or at least "co-rights". Who cares? Everybody who has posted on this thread and the other ones!

But if you watch the peace sells video, he in some parts has a headstock-blocked out bc rich, but other times its a King v..so I guess the endorsement happened right after the album, and porbably during the video.

Yup.. he didn't play a Jackson at all in that video. It was BC Rich the entire video.

Re: The OFFICIAL Word on the Y2KV and Dave Mustaine

I believe the above post 100%.

After reading this:

"After several discussions and negotiations through his attorney, Mr. Mustaine decided not to enter into an agreement and has instructed FMIC not to fill any more of the open orders for the Dave Mustaine Y2KV signature series guitar."

I can only say "So What???". Take Dave's signature off the headstock, call it a "Y2KV" and keep making them. Finish the ones in production without Dave's signature.

On a different note. I am extremely disappointed to see that FMIC doesn't seem to be responsive to artist relations with former long term Jackson endorsees. We told FMIC about Alexi Laiho and Roope Latvala and how Alexi's guitars got stolen. I myself warned that they better snag Alexi before he went to ESP.

Now Jackson has lost Alexi Laiho, Roope Latvala and Dave Mustaine to inferior Japanese made ESP guitars. Who's next?

As others have said, I feel the exact same way about the King V and Robbin Crosby/Ratt. Robbin's name was Robbin "King" Crosby. The "King" in King V came from Robin's name. Robbin Crosby has been continually slapped in the face by Jackson for years. When we talked to him about doing a tribute to him and his "Big Red" King V he couldn't believe it. It may have been the only "bright moment" in his life before his passing away. He was truly excited about participating in the project. We would loved to have gotten those guitars built but Jackson management became difficult and killed the basis of the concept. With the FMIC buyout of Jackson, I approached Fender management about resurecting the JCF02 Robbin Crosby "Big Red". Fender management was interested and willing to work on the project until former Jackson management came in and killed the project again.

The disappointments just keep stacking up. I really wanted to see the whole FMIC thing work.

Hear the story in Robbin's own words. It's long, but worth the time.

While Dave does in fact have many USA Jackson Custom Shop King V's still in his posession-he will be prohibited from using them in live performances should his future plans include or allow him to perform live again.

I really wanted a Y2KV. Oh well, I'll just have to find a used one.

It looks like Jackson really needs to get their act together. They lose Alexi Laiho, Roope Latvala, and Dave Mustaine to an inferior, Japanese made ESP.
