    the two that were on ebay (there may have been more, but i don't remember) were market tests and didn't sell. the proto is different in that the headstock is red and the control layout is different. mike shannon built all of them.

            The Double Rhoads was the original size of the King V. As the story goes, Dave Linsk (lead guitar in Overkill) had the first Double Rhoads made (he was in a band called Zyris... same band Zakk Wylde was also in at one time). Robin saw it at the Custom Shop for some work being done to it, had one made for himself. Since Robin was a pretty big guy and had the nickname "King", and was in a famous band at the time, that's how it became known as the King V. The King V was then downsized twice to what it is now today. I think I got the story right, somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
