I do intend to push for the binder on my custom, I dunno if those of you that were supposed to have gotten one and didn't also tried but were just flat out told no, but I if it were me I would keep on them, they may send it late but it will probably eventually get to you. From the way I was made to understand it (and hopefully John can clarify this) the binder is standard and you don't have to request it. If thats not the case then thats fine, and I don't really care when I get it, but I would definitely want it at some point.
All I can say is make sure you look CAREFULLY at your final spec sheet before you turn it into a work order. Even some months later when Mike called to confirm color and such, I still found 2 small things I missed. Nothing that would have been major but this is a guitar you are paying a hell of alot of money for, leave nothing to chance, take your time and make sure you have every detail you want. If you don't know what the "Standard" is, ASK.

I assumed that the neck-thrus had good neck tilt, but after getting this SL2H I discovered that it's straight as an arrow with the body, zero tilt.

If it's got a recessed trem, it's got no tilt.
You'll need to get a non-recessed trem or a TOM bridge in order for the neck to be tilted back.

Oh, I'm very happy with mine AND it was fast but it's quite off topic I guess
Main point everyone is trying to make is take nothing for granted - be specific on every detail you can think of - things you would not normally think of either -
Things will probably change as the project develops and the dealer comes back and asks you a few questions of things that Jackson is not sure of or that you did not specify.
The custom order sheet is not enough detail. You may even have to supply a drawing in certain cases.
headstock tilt, placement of knobs, wrenches on back of headstock, specific bevel measurements if you want increased fretboard access, want a highly flamed fingerboard - you have to ask for a good piece of wood, three piece maple neck or one piece, scarf joint in the neck - want one or not? etc...
Thats why it would be good to have more communication with the builders as your project develops. It would be great to get pics as the body was cut and see how the neck fit etc... so that each way along the project it matches what you want.

Apparently even doing all of this, in GREAT detail isn't enough for them to NOT fuck things up. I'm at the point to where they can't get ANYTHING right, even when you do supply them with extra diagrams, details and information.
Anything short of a detailed SPEC sheet and a fully blueprinted drawing with measurements, and they'll fuck your order up. Guaranteed.

I've heard quite afew thing's about stuff not be exactly what was ordered, and while these may have been minor detail's, they still shouldnt have been wrong....
So what to expect on a custom order stuff you didnt ask for????
I'd still buy Japanese jacksons and Usa Selcts but i'm a bit weary of ever ordering a CS Jackson....
I'f I ever have enough i'm tempted to get a guitar made to the same specs as my Ran, but it's abit worrying when you hear you have to fight with the cs to really get what you wan't....
