Welcome aboard dude!...there's a few from NJ in here! You're from wayyyy down south there I see! Most of us (like me) are from up North...especially me...I'm in the friggin' backwoods redneck country!

Anyhoo...All Kellys post 1985 (or 6) are the same size body.
When they were first introduced, they were called the King Kelly...they had extra body cuts. They discontinued that style quickly because the extra cuts were too hard to finish without screwing them up, so the next Kelly kept the body size, but ditched the cuts. Finally, they arrived at the shape and size you see today. And now they are all the same size....hope that helps!

I had heard that there was a medium-sized Kelly (in the late 80s?), between the King Kelly size and the current one (which had something to do with Marty Friedman?). (Am I even answering a question anymore?)

Actually, I believe Greg Crowe may have the only King Kelly without the cuts. They downsized the body to "medium" size after that. Then Marty Friedman wanted a smaller body which became the standard size of today.

actually, they are going to start cranking them out a wee bit larger in 2007.

after I recieved my friedman earlier this year, I phoned jakcson and told them that I would rather have the gitar just a bit larger, but smaller than the originals.

The big shots at jackson decided that it'd be a wise decision to begin making them to my specs for 2007

BTW...my response was a "nutshell" answer....I accidentally left out the Friedman correlation to the Kelly..

Re: Kelly Bodies

In 1985 they started making a 'medium' sized Kelly. It had a 22 fret neck, so less neck was protruding out of the guitar, the measurement from point to point of the body showed some small difference in width, but it was close to the 24 fretters. Nothing like "Woah, this sucker is BIG".
