Re: Mustaine spoke -

I don't really understand why anyone gives a $hit what a guy in rehab is playing. Good god Dave, at least join or start a band. The only thing Dave Mustaine has given us in the past 1+ year is a BS excuse whey he disbanded Megadeth. I could care less what he plays.

I get a kick out of this thread title - "Mustaine speaks..." - you'd think God himself spoke. Kinda like in Forrest Gump when he stops running and the dude behind him tells everyone, "Stop - I think HE is gonna say something!". Forrest says, "I'm tired. I'm gonna go home now." Pretty deep, huh?

My feeling is WHO CARES?!? Dave can do whatever he wants (and play whatever he wants), but Megadeth without Jr. & Marty makes about as much sense as having two RATT's touring - it's just way too watered down for me. That makes about as much sense as Dan Spitz going out and touring as Anthrax, you know? If all you have left is one original member, you just shouldn't tour as the BAND you once were. That said, Megadeth (with Marty and Jr.) just didn't have they fire on the last couple albums they once did.

Then again, we heard stories of him on vacation with his family and he hurt himself falling off a horse.

Also, didn't Jason Newstead announce he was leaving Metallica because he injured his back and neck from rigorous years of touring? Yet, he went on with some other crap band, and now he's in Voivod and thrashing and headbanging around in their new video while still playing heavy-ass maple basses. He'll also be playing double-duty on Ozzfest in both Voivod and Ozzy's band. So his back is still giving him a problem, eh? What a bunch of we're being fed by both bands!!

I couldn't have put it any better Toejam! Dave just followed the Jason Newstead line of BS.

                      Re: Mustaine spoke -

MD.45 was just as heavy as Megadeth, if not more so, and that was just Dave there playing guitar and writing the songs.

Megadeth has had some excellent players over the years who have contributed some very distinct elements, but the band has always been Dave's. Junior ceased to be Dave's close compadre when he cleaned up and Dave didn't (1990 or so). He kept the job only because he was dependable, and didn't hit on Dave's wife. Megadeth will always be Dave plus some other [very talented] guys.

Still, I'd almost be willing to wager that any new material from Dave will be released either under his own name or as an entirely new project, Megadeth put aside for a "reunion" in 5-10 years.

                          Re: Mustaine spoke -

Ok, I don't know how much I like the Dave Mustaine bashing, if you have regularly been going to the Megadeth boards as long as I have you'd know this was from Dave. I wording, language, and personality is DEFINATELY Dave's. He is NOT in rehab unless they let him leave to take his son Justis to Phoenix Coyotes hockey games. They're season ticket holders and were interviewed between periods by espn a little over a month or 2 ago. Dave spoke nothing of himself or his music career, just about hockey and his son playing hockey. He has done numerous things with VH1 during the past year too. I know he has had some issues in the past but has worked hard to show his appreciation to every fan he encounters over the past few years. He even burried the hatchet with Lars Ulrich and had supportive words for James Hetfield when James himself went to rehab.

I believe he posted because he saw what people like Kermit and myself (who had pending orders cancelled) and weren't quite sure what to do from that point and that some jackass was speculating he had signed with ESP. I'm pretty sure he'll be announcing which company he'll be endorsing by summer NAMM.

Most people are guessing that he'll announce something about his return or retirement on April 3 the anniversary of his injury announcement, but I'm not sure it will come that soon.

Dave never had a derogative thing to say about Jackson Guitars, it just sounds like he and FMIC just couldn't see eye to eye.

Give the guy a break, he's been doing this a long time, had an injury, and took some time to heal his body and his relationship with his family as a father and husband. Who are we to flame him for that. If we're just gonna do that because he left Jackson....well that's just stupid. I don't see anyone flaming Alexi from C.O.B. or anyone else who's jumped ship lately. If you don't like Dave, then that's fine, but it's sad when we need to say things with no solid proof about bein in rehab or that he is just basically screwing his fans. Just a little respect whether or not you're a fan.....after 20 years and many great albums (Rust in Peace may possibly be the best of it's genre EVER) I think He's earned it.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well, I heard the news myself on WSOU 89.5 (which I'm sure you're familiar with since you're also in NJ) that he was back in rehab and hurt himself while there. Then there was a couple other stories I've heard. So what's the real story then? I absolutely love Dave, but he's hiding behind some kind of smokescreen and not being honest with his fans. Maybe he's living by his song "Almost Honest"?
We just want the truth! If it weren't for the fans, he wouldn't have a career.
