Hey Guyver1, I'm a newbie too, and like you someone with thousands of posts elsewhere, experience as a mod, etc., etc. My first thought on showing up here and seeing all the restrictions wasn't "hey, these assholes don't recognize my maturity and experience, these rules are weird and annoying, I need to teach these loser Americans what's what", it was more like "shit, these guys must have had some serious problems in the past, I wonder what they were?"
Every community has some gate to entry, even if it isn't explicit. And most communities that aren't completely insular usually get to common sense conclusions over time. If the rules exist, and the community is thriving, maybe the rules are there for a reason, eh?
I look at it this way: I just bought two Charvels, I'm likely to be hanging around here for awhile, they'll see what kind of guy I am over time, meanwhile I'll assume that there are valid reasons for the restrictions and play the game the way they've set it up. Why not? My ego isn't threatened by my being labeled a "junior member" for a few weeks. Is yours?
