Might be wondering whats with all the projects and polls lately... its simple. Ive got WAY too many parts laying around, and I need to build some guitars to get them out of the way!
On to the project... the guitar is origonally an RR3R. Put in an EMG 81/85 years ago, but they went into the new Dinky, so this will have a Duncan Dime/'59 combo!
Now Im unsure what neck I want to use. First I have a DXMG project neck. The neck is in nice condition, but the headstock paint had some nice chunks out of it. So I removed the binding, and stripped it down to bare maple. IF I use this neck for the guitar, I will be laminating the headstock with a thin piece of Flame Maple, and will ATTEMPT to paint it to match the body. Only thing Im not crazy about is the plastic inlays.
Second is a MINT DKMG neck reverse head.. Although I used ebony color in the generator, this neck actually has one of the nicest pieces of rosewood Ive seen... some nice off color striping and a cool little knot around the upper frets.
So, cast your vote, let me know what you think!
And the two necks in question:
