  • The dumbest Q in the world?

    Hi everybody!!!
Been reading "the custom guitar shop and Wayne Richardr Charvel"
    And can´t figure it out!!!
When did he start Chrvel guitars?
When did Wayne leave Charvel for Grover?
    When did Grover leave C/J?
When did the first J guitar leave the factory?
I know it was the "big" RR...

I read something bout that Wayne sold the company in -78(?) to Grover witch means
all the Charvel during the early 80´s was were Charvel/Jackson built?
    And NOT by Wayne?
So the real hype´s because Grover/Tim and Shannon?

Is there anybody who knows the years/dates when all happened?

    Thanx for answers!

Yeah, as far as I've heard, Wayne Charvel never offered any complete guitars to his customers while he owned Charvel guitars. I'm told that at the time Charvel specialized in replacement parts, and that it was Grover's idea to start with custom made guitars after he had bought out Wayne. I'm not 100% sure of all this, but I'm positive a bigger Charvel nut than me will be along shortly to give you the lowdown on things.

As to your 5th question, yes Wayne left in late '78 and from 1979 to 1986 the guitars were made in the San Dimas area (technically Glendora).

BTW the dumbest question would be the one you don't ask.

I'd say roll around in the forums, check some old threads, read the sticky ones. The search function isn't at 100%, but try it out!

This is correct, there is no such thing as a Wayne Charvel manufactured Charvel guitar.

At one point, didn't Wayne Charvel either own or have some involvement with Boogie Bodies?

                This helps a lot.

Another Q: When Grover left in 1989, who was the owner/buyer at that time (AMI?), and why did he leave? Did he feel that metal axes had peaked and Gibsons were up and coming?

If it was AMI in 1989, who were they?
