    I never said artists have to get paid cash for an endorsement. There are many different ways and levels of "compensating" artists for their endorsements:

    - signature guitar models;
    - advertisements in magazines, etc.;
    - sponsoring recording releases and/or tours;
    - free guitars or other equipment;
    - just plain old putting them on the company website for free "visability";
    - and so on and so on;

    An endorsement deal can mean some, none, or all of those. Or plenty of other things - the specifics of the endorsement deal are entirely up to the two parties involved. But - 9 times out of 10 - the underlying basis of an endorsement is a legally binding contract/agreement between the artist and company.

    I'll guarantee you that every one of the artists you mention has a contractual agreement with Marshall for their endorsement. Whether they're getting paid or not, whether they get free gear or not, whether they get advertising or not. Whatever.

    Anything else you've discussed is NOT an endorsement. If the two parties do not have a contractual agreement for their "endorsement", one simply does not exist. 'nuff said.

    Heck, by your standards, I could claim to be an "endorser" of Jackson / Charvel. :lol

      Dude, I am in no way arguing with you about Endorsees "under contract" but if you allow your name and or image with a product, giving it your stamp of approval....is another kind of endorsement.

      Let's just leav this at this. IT'S PRETTY F'N COOL THAT ZAKK "LENDS" HIS IMAGE AND NAME TO A JACKSON PRODUCT!!!! Period. Will it sell guitars??? Absolutely. Whatever terminology is used to describe it.
      Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

        And anyone who buys that gay looking "relic" Truckster model is a retard... including James Hetfield.
