It has a 4 screw square output jack plate. The neck plate is flat(smooth) with no markings. The pickup I put in around 1986. It is a white seymour duncan 4 something. Not high output, but with an old JMP marshall super smooth distortion. The floyd just says floyd rose on it, nothing else.
It's a prepro dude....that info clinches it....
Very cool and valuable guitar you have there....
As for the pup..I think lower gain pups sound better...at least to me....
CYA.....come on...it's just a guitar...albeit a prepro Charvel....
What is there to "CYA" on...the dude just came in asking questions about his guitar....and unlike a lot of new members...he actually made a great first post
I don't want to start any fights on my first posts. It's real. I bought it used in 1985 and there were no people faking this stuff as far as I know. I'm in my 40's now and still love guitar playing(even though I took about 6 years off). It was quite a scene in the old days of metal on the strip. I would like to make it as original as possible with a new refin and correct pickup. Any suggestions?
Thanks for all the info and kind words. This forum is great. I've been playing mostly gibson's for the last couple years, but decided it was time to play the charvel again after seeing a band play some dokken, van halen and ratt tunes at a party recently. It's really clean with minimum fret wear, so maybe I should just leave well enough alone and just make sure it's still setup and intonated correctly.
Yup an 1981 Pre-pro: refin & added Floyd, changed hum & tuners!!If it can be restored back to the original graphic it is worth restoring otherwise leave it as is!!
Very nice Charvel!!Thanx for sharing pics & info!!
