You really have to do something like putting the guitar on the floor and stepping on it to break angled maple headstock.

That may be true with some guitars, but still.......if the guitar is going to have a string retainer anyway, I can't see a purpose in having a tilt-back headstock. Other than maybe economizing production for like guitars only differing in bridge/nut specs.

You're better off with a retainer for a straight headstock. You'll go more sharp when you lock the nut on a straight headstock than you would if you have one that tilts back. The retainer angles the strings back for more downward pressure.

Exactly. Maybe I wasn't clear, but I was talking about my Axis' headstock design in a totally positive sense.
