Here in the French-settled parts of the
Southeast we've been celebrating for the
past 2 weeks, but today is THE day, Mardi
Gras itself!!! We know how to throw a
party down here, merci beaucoup!

Well in French it means "Fat Tuesday".
Ash Wednesday is the start of Lent, when
Catholics have to give up an earthly pleasure for 40 days until Easter. French people, loving earthly pleasures,
made the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday the
ultimate drunken street costume party.
The French settled the Southeastern US area so Mardi Gras is a huge thing here,
with parades starting up to a month before the holiday itself, and lots of them from 2 weeks before up til the day
itself.

Here in Biloxi there will be parades at
noon, 2PM and 6PM, and neighboring cities
have them too. Biloxi was founded BEFORE
New Orleans, which is the heart of Mardi Gras in the USA, so we try to throw as big a party as we can, though New Orleans
has dozens of parades. We're only 1/10
their size though, so we hold our heads
high with 3 parades on the day itself.

Of course, the Brazilians have Carnival,
which is the same idea, but they make our
Mardi Gras look like a church picnic! Got to go there one day!

Does Oz do Mardi Gras the same way? If so, good for you! If not, you can always

That sounds awesome! Our ‘Mardi Gras’ Happens in Sydney, and its like this giant pride parade. It’s a very slight mindf*ck, most of the other capitals have a smaller version so it happens here too. Yours sounds exponentially better!

Happy Party Grass er i mean Mardi Gras. I'd say fat tuesday but im fat everyday.
I saw boobies lots and lots of boobies and I didnt even have any beads. [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img] Bonus. Free boobies. I got up close and personal flashes. (seat next to one of the girls flashing).
Even saw boobies of a girl I work with. I couldve done without that though. Yikes.
