  • Pics of Eerie Dess Swirl Soloists and Dinkys please!!!

I have been considering getting a DK2M in Eerie Dess Swirl for the past month or so, based on the photos that I had seen on Jackson's website.

Yesterday I went to a guitar shop and saw an SL2H and an RR1 in EDS.

Both of them looked lot darker in real life than in the photos that I had seen previously. The RR1 looked a little brighter, probably because the purple portion of the finish was more prominent due to it extending along the upper "V".

Anyway, I am not so sure if I want an EDS guitar now, because I was expecting the finish to be a lot brighter looking.

It may have been the fluorescent lighting in the store, so if you guys/gals have pics of your EDS Dinkys or Soloists, please post them here, so I can decide one way or the other.

    Thanks in advance!

From the guitars that I saw yesterday, I believe that the newer EDS finish has green, blue, and purple in it, radiating outward in that order from ther center of the guitar. The guitar in the pics above only has green and blue.

Anyone else with pics of newer EDS finishes?

Most of the older ones I've seen had quite a bit of purple, but they were pretty dark. The newer ones, mainly imports, are lighter and look more pink than purple.

            Thanks NextInLine

            Ron,

The guitars that I saw yesterday were pretty dark, like the one at Matt's that you posted.

            ToeJam,

I hope you're right about the imports being lighter in color than the US models... After viewing the DK2M in this thread:

I think that I'm going to go for the EDS finish.

Thanks for all the help, guys

It;s definitely not the easiest finish to photograph, either.

Mine has no purple... (And it's dirty... sorry!!!) But I have to re-state what's already been said, it's a hard finish to photograph...

                  Thanks for the pics

When you say that it's not an easy finish to photograph, do you mean to say that it's hard to take a photo that shows how bright the finish actually is? If that's the case, then I should be OK.

From what I've seen, all of the imports with EDS are much brighter than the USA versions which tend to be darker. But the USA version of the EDS has more depth and character to the finish (if that makes sense). I had a DK2 in EDS and it was a great guitar.

Cool. Thanks for the info about the import finishes being brighter.

Thanks for the pic! Your EDS is the first that I've seen with the purple/pink center too!
