Well, I have no intrest in paying 1500 dollar (2000+ in Sweden) for a pretty mediocre guitar. No neck, body or headbinding, bolt-on and some crappy vintage trem. It unbelievable.

Made in USA, what a hypocrisy.

Umm, did you check the price/options list on the Charvel site? Who cares about neck or body binding? And what's wrong with a bolt-on? And don't give me any crap about how bolt-ons don't give you as much sustain as a set-neck or neck-thru.
You can order the new production Charvels with maple, rosewood or ebony fingerboard, with one or two humbuckers, even H/S/S or H/S, with your choice of Floyd or V-trem.

Until you play one and have one in your hands, it just doesn't make sense to compare it to anything else. It's like comparing a San Dimas to a MIM Fender Strat. Hey, they both have bolt-on necks, maple fretboard, no binding, stratheads, don't they? What's the difference?

From what I've heard, "bolt on" neck guitars don't have very much sustane.

ha ha, I played a MIM strat tonight (my bassist has one) and this one was pretty much a POS. the fretboard was thin and it just felt cheap. it played OK. smallish medium frets - I was not impressed. then again I've seen some HSS MIM strats at GC that looked and felt amazing.

this one I played tonight would have been better with a proper setup and new strings.

Just how long do people want to sustain notes for these days? I can't get my high gain amp to shut up. The least thing I'm worried about is sustain. I struggle enough just trying to get my Les Paul to sound less muddy. The friggin thing sustains notes when I don't want it to...

By the way, I like to blame the guitar for my crappy playing.

Put an rsguitarworks upgrade kit in your Les Paul and you will loose the mud.

Or just put EMGs in your guitar and you'll also lose the mud. Les Pauls with EMGs rule!

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely give that a try. I've looked at them before when I thought of the WCRs but I like the burstbuckers too.

Well sure but if it said Made in Japan instead of Made in USA it would drop one grand in price. I just want an alternative.

Oh, but it wouldn't. Japanese guitars are usually top quality, and they cost. Especially when they're master built and are top quality, perfectly proportioned neck shapes etc. Considering you can buy a Charvel Star online for $1200, I doubt you can do better in Japan. Plus, I don't even think they make Star shaped guitars over there.

I'm talking about imports like Jackson for like 5-600 dollars or something.

Well, they don't. That's too bad...... for me........

You need to look for a mutt then, like mine:
