I'll take $49 Charvettes all day... I'd still like to know if the theory about the spacing of the 12th fret dots having a relationship to the body construction holds true... or if all the 170/270s (the ones with the scalloped lower horn) were non-plywood. I love a good mystery.

My take on charvettes. The necks are usually just as nice as model series necks. Mine is. Solid body ones are better than ply but they usually lack in the electronics and hardware dept. Especially the trem. Its usually some oddball floyd clone thing that cannot be replaced by a real floyd. For $49 is a steal if it works. Great to learn on especially because the neck is nice.

Don't forget the JT-6 was available on some models: http://www.audiozone.dk/CatalogScans...1989Page05.htm

Well let's put that mystery to bed. My 270 is definitely plywood, and has the closer spaced 12th fret dots.

It also had a JT6 on it originally, and plays very nicely.

I guess that officially makes Charvettes a crap-shoot then. Still for $49...
