• serial number question, have pics now

I picked up a used Jackson used at a local music store a couple of years ago. I haven't been able to find anything out about it and was wondering if anyone could tell me what model it is by the serial number. 9415786. If a picture is needed let me know and I will post one.

thanks

Well, I can tell you it's Japanese. That's all you can glean from the serial number without the QC database, which was probably erased by AMIC shortly after the buyout.

I know there's a post on here somewhere describing how to do it.

Basically you have to uplink the pic to a server somewhere first, then use the IMAGE button here (one of the small 10 buttons at the bottom of the reply area) to load it into your message.

check out the pics. I'd like to have some kind of an idea as to what model guitar I'm playing. I'm not trying to rush it just wanted to bring the post back to the top.

thanks

Re: serial number question, have pics now

Looks like a mid '90s Jackson Fusion (import - made in Japan) to me.

I say this because the unusual fretboard dots were characteristic of Fusions from that time, and I don't recall seeing that dot pattern on any other model... If it is indeed a Fusion it should have the shorter "gibson style" scale length: measuring from bridge to nut will be 24.5" instead of 25.5". If that's the case, then it's definitely a Fusion.

Were any of the Fusions available as a string-thru?

The off-set dots don't necessarily make it a Fusion - you could also get them on the PS-4, for one. I think only 2 of the Fusions had off-set dots, they also came with regular dots & sharkfins too. Measuring the scale will tell us for sure. If it's 24 3/4" then it's Fusion. Otherwise, some species of Dinky.

Possibly a DR6?

It's a Dinky HX. I answered this for him in another thread. Only made in '94, only about 100 made. Here's the two I own. The purple one is a Dinky Reverse, also from '94.
The DR6 only had 22 frets with reverse sharkfins and brushed chrome hardware.
