    Welcome!
No, I went to the location that was across the 210 fwy from Raging Waters, which is technically San Dimas. I lived in Pomona.

I met with Grover several times there.

Sorry, you must be confused. It was a real location.

Welcome Mickey!!!!! I believe Charvel was actually in Glendora and the PO Box was in San Dimas.

It's all one big city there - I assume it's San Dimas, because raging waters is san dimas. But that's where it was. When you live in SoCal you are less concerned with small townships than how to get from one place to the other.

Naturally I would just drive up the 210, from the 10, off White Ave in Pomona, where I lived.

I went there a number of times.

The setup room was across from the office. Joannes desk faced into the lobby, away from the street, with grovers office to her left, and the lobby entrance to her right.

Grover kept a tweed bassman in his office, along with whatever his fave instrument at the time was.

They were in an industrial park - one of those garage doors in rows places.

But this whole thing is stupid. I really lived there, and I really went there a number of times.

Okay, so I just viewed a map.

The 210 flyover is now labeled 57. That was the orange frwy, back then leading from the 60 to orange county. The 210 in this spot was the 210A, flyover from the 210 to the 10.

Anyway, one one side of the fwy, is raging waters, which is still technically San Dimas, at least in yahoo maps.

The other side of the fwy, back in those little streets, somewhere (for god's sake it's been over 20 years now), was an industrial park, and charvel was in it. That's how I drove there, I'd get off the fwy at Via Verde, and drive back in there.

Whether or not it was technically Glendora is a moot issue. They weren't just some PO Box, they were a real place, and I've been there.

Sorry I wasn't super mindful of technically what city I was in. It's all one big city from LA to San Bernadino, so WTF?

                    Mickey C..

Ron is one of my peeps!!

I am the JCF Grand Master Blaster!!

For I am the mighty Bill Z Bub..your best friend or your worst nightmare, the Alpha and the Omega, the Ying and the Yang..The Cheech and the Chong ..I am King Kong and you are my ding dong..

I am not a Subtle, but I am awesome..

You see, I learned how to spell "sublte" correctly..I used to spell it suddle..but thanks to Ron "Racer X"..I no longer look like a dick!

BTW ..I have two San Dimas 1995 re-issues..My main is a SD-1 Koa and the other a trans green SD III..I bought both new. The SDIII never leaves it's case..so it looks like the day I bought it.

I thought this eleborate intro warranted my elaborate welcome..

Welcome aboard..it's a fun place, thanks to me..so have a good time.

I'd like to group newbies, you know they are greatly increasing in number these days so grouping them can be useful

First thing I'd like to mention is that their first first encounter with Ron plays a very important role about grouping them.

                      So here we go;

1 - Newbies who can't make nice intros: This group of newbies are usually slayed by Ron first, then by other people and from what I can see this group usually has moobs This group doesn't need Ron's help in the following days of membership. Guess why?

                      2 - Newbies who can make nice intros: Also divided in two;

2.a - Newbies who can make nice intros but can't "get" Ron: Usually are sensitive people with some knowledge and guitar background. Ron is a nice surprise for them. This group later usually needs Ron's help or Ron will be the first one to help them when they need help!

2.b - Newbies who can make nice intros and can get what Ron is talking about: Rarely seen (Ideal newbie) Because the fellow jcf'ers love Ron soo much that they always warn the newbies about him which makes it difficult not to overreact in the first encounter with Ron. But members of this group can do that and are smart enough to realise Ron's knowledge however Ron's sense of humour can be a little difficult to understand even for them

Welcome btw! You'll have great time reading & posting here

Welcome to the best place on the net!!!!! You'll grow to appreciate Ron (and even Bill's) sarchastic yet hysterical demeanors. Both do also offer a great wealth of knowledge. (Ron on Jacksons and his amazing ability to figure out the import serial numberring, and Bill....well, Bill has some interesting knowledge....but mostly about shaving a scrotum...lol) Don't let these guys scare you off, they're good peeps! So welcome!!!!

                              PS- By the way................................
Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

This thread is worthless without pics? Hmmm.

Uhhmmmm whatcha want for pics? How's about my first charvel, recently digitized (okay, so I laid it on the counter and took a pic of it)? This is after I went to Charvel, and they installed an original floyd on it (the main reason I made two of the visits - other than to get a peek at the awesome place that made these guitars I was diggin'). Pic is March of 83 (or at least that's what's written on the back of the polaroid). The guitar was bought in 82, at guitar center, and the neck is from my 2nd, bought a couple months later.

                                Here ya go:
