  • Neck profile difference?

    Hey guys,
I was lookng at the custom shop order form and I saw that you could pick different neck styles (Standard Jackson, San Dimas and KV-2 I believe.) I was wondering, what are the differences between all of them and what do they feel like? Also, what is your favorite and why?

+1 for thin necks. i relish the day i could afford a custom warrior with the same neck profile as a soloist. so much easier to play.

        .700 @ 3rd, .800 @ 12th D profile (flat spot)
        .750 @ 3rd, .810 @ 12th Dinky Profile
        .775 @ 3rd, .835 @ 12th Speed Neck
        .790 @ 3rd, .850 @ 12th Soloist Profile

There are several other common Jackson profiles, like the original Rhoads profile, and the baseball bat profile... which I don't have the measurements of.

            My necks...

            Man,
My micrometer must be off because I got really different numbers for my necks...

How did you all measure them? Above the fret or on the wood?

What did you all use to measure them?

I do know that there is about a .10" difference between my J0604 Kelly and RR0173 Rhoads. The rhoads is thicker. ALso, the BAseball bat neck is about 1/8" to 3/16" wider.

I will measure the JCF01 or my RR#3 soon to see how they differ.

Most of the necks I've measured(imports) have been off from what they should be. It seems like no one stays with the stock specs. My KE2 is very close to stock specs tho so I guess the USA models should be very close to advertised specs.

I use a digital micrometer and measure from the fret board and the back of neck.
