  • How do you play a RRV sitting down?

It's a noob question I know - I've never tried myself, but is it comfortable? I'm thinking of possibly buying one . . .

Kinda hard to describe. I'm sure the dealer you're looking to buy it at can show you. FYI though its not easy.

Its easy....sounds like porn... but sit down...open your legs...and place the opening of the V on your right inner thigh while the small wing rests on top of your left thigh....you can kind of close you legs tighter to adjust how the neck angle sits.

Here ya go man...my wife took a quick pic of me sitting holding my new PCS. I am 1/2 drunk so i am sure the position is a little off . Its actually pretty comfy IMO. I am 6'1" 210 lbs so I dont know if the comfort level changes with a persons size but who knows. Maybe others can chime in

You're kidding, right? It's not rocket science. Put it in the Classical position... lower wing between your legs.

I dunno. Maybe it was the angle I was setting it (which I was settign low to the ground and I have long legs) but I couldn't get it balanced to play it.

That doesn't look too bad - but he's got to have his foot propped up on something

Just like Randy Rhoads(R.I.P.) does it...
sit on the edge of the chair, couch or whatever you`re sitting on...

Put more of the weight of the guitar on you right leg (picture left side )...

Randy seems to have his left foot propped up on a foot rest, but I've never had a problem balancing and playing with any V or even an Explorer in that position. Hell, I even play my Strats in that position between my legs, too.

remember he was 4ft nothing there are many ways to play that git sittin down. I find extending my right leg out accomplises the same thing....either that or buy a fuggin strap and get up off your ass and play :ROTF: . Alternative is to just buy a strat shaped guitar

buy a warrior, they are great for playing seated
if not use the above position, i have an extra strap for guitars that won't stay put when seated. it helps me a lot.

I find the Rhoads to be one of the worst guitars to sit and play...

The Warrior and KV are best for playing sitting.

Another suggestion: Wear a strap while seated.

I've played a Gibson flying V seated and it was a mutha - I was just looking at some rhoads V's and wondering if the different body shape would make playing seated easier. I'll just have to find one and see . . . Those pics do help though. How does the King V differ from a Gibson (or a Y2KV body style) in shape? I found the lower point just got in the way with the Gibson.
