  • Let the noobness begin!!

    alert!!!

Something has been bugging me for a long time and I have to know this extremely noob question.

What is the difference between a Soloist and a Dinky?

    Neck through?

    Pickup combination?

    Body size?

    Some combination of these?

Neckthru vs. bolt on. This is the only difference as far as I know.

So the Soloist is neckthru, whereas the Dinky is bolt-on? Correct?

That would be far too easy.

"A dinky" is a bolt-on guitar with a dinky bodyshape whereas a modern soloist is a neck-thru guitar with a dinky bodyshape.
A dinky guitar with strat bodyshape would be called "a strat", whereas a soloist with strat bodyshape would still be considered a soloist.

No, it'd be considered a 24-fret Strat, or "Strat-24" as Jackson's made in the past.

A Dinky or Dinky/Soloist body is 7/8" the size of a full Strat body.
