SL-3 Soloist advice. Noob alert

Anyway, I’ve been considering buying a Floyd Rose equipped guitar for a while. My local guitar shop has a second hand Jackson SL3 for £500, which seems to be a pretty good price when compared to this http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/sl-3/1258

I’ve only had a quick look at the guitar (haven’t tried it yet) but it didn’t seem to have any obvious markings telling you which model it is. I was wondering if anyone had any tips to make sure that, if I do decide to buy it, I get what I pay for?

What shop is it man? Guitar guitar in Edinburgh had a black SL3 which definitely was one.

The SL3 is easy to spot. It's a neck through without binding. It doesn't have the made in USA decal on the headstock but otherwise it's similar. Rails pickups instead of single coils.

The Sl3 has a rosewood fret board, no binding and 3 Seymour Duncan pups. The neck thru will also point you in the right direction.

One thing to take into consideration is whether it's the new updated model or the earlier one. Was the hardware chrome or black?

The difference between the 2005 and 2006 SL-3 models is HUGE. The 2006 comes with an Original Floyd Rose trem. Floating trems don't get any better than that. The predecessor (2005 model) had a licensed trem of considerably lower quality.
