Re: Calling all Jackson Charvel forum members.

I know the question is "floyd or string-thru" but personally I'd like to add "Kahler Pro" to the list :-)

(I can hear the hissing already!)

I like the Floyd better as a trem, but the Kahler at least lets me do double stops and so on like a string-thru. so if I can have only one... it's a great compromise.

Only a wuss can't do double stop bends on a Floyd. Just takes a little different finger pressure, cause when you bend one string up, the other goes flat. But there is an "in between" pressure if you just work to find it and then practice the feel of that bend.

I went from a blocked Floyd to a Fixed bridge, and Ill never go back

I installed a Piezo system in my fixed bridge, and a graphtech nut with locking tuners. Sounds great, Fun for playing around with heavy strings on the piezo setup, messing with alternate tunings.

Even though all my guitars have a floyd trem, I really do miss my fixed bridge. I'm not sure if all the work needed for floyds out-weigh the occational use.

I have both and both are SO DIFFERENT. This is a tough decision to make. I have to go with the Floyd, the deciding factor being the fine tuners. Can't live without them. Also palm muting on a Floyd, since that's what I came up playing, is just a little more natural for me. Not that I would EVER put a Floyd on my 1965 Epiphone

I love the Floyd, but if I had to choose only one guitar, it would definately be a fixed bridge one. Why? Because if I was playing a gig with no backup guitar and broke a string, it would:
A) Let me finish the song without being totally out of tune.
B) Take no more than a minute or so to put in a new string and tune up.

I`d take the Floyded one.
