  • Jackson 3+3 headstock vs Standard Jackson

What do you guys think of the Jackson 3+3 headstocks? On their own, I don't mind them...I just don't think they match the Jackson bodies. I think the SLSMG would look so much nicer with the standard "hockey stick" style headstock. The KV2T matches the headstock a little better, but I still like the way my KV1T looks more (yes, it does exist). I've seen a few custom shop Warriors with the 3+3 and I think they look crazy.

The Y2KV shape would have looked bad with the standard Jackson headstock, so I'm glad they went with a more Gibson style headstock for that model...but in general I'd like to see Jackson stick to the 1980's point. What do you guys think of the 3+3?

    They aren`t so bad...
    But the "standart" Jackson Headstock
just gives the guitar more of a dynamic look and
    that`s pretty sugar

I like all of Jackson's 3+3 headstocks, especially the one on my old JJP.

As far as 3+3, I gotta go with the surfcaster headstock!

I personally prefer the standard, especially when compared to that used q tip Smurf hat looking debauchery.
Bon Jovi is like a frozen Coca Cola.. It's cool, it's crunchy, but when all is said and done it is still pop....

I vastly prefer the SLSMG headstock over the Jackson standard headstock. The normal Jackson headstock is great on its own, but it is much much more suited to the Rhoads or Kelly body style then it is to the more traditional ones, like on my COW and SLSMG.

For some reason, I think the classic body style needs a more upscale looking headstock then the gaudy normal Jackson one. The SLSMG stock still is sharp edged enough it has some aggressiveness to it, suits the rest of the guitar perfectly, while having some class.

              I don't mind the 3+3s.

And I disagree about the Y2KV - have you seen any of the old roundhorn Vs from the 80s? They looked great with a pointy headstock

                my thoughts exactly

roundhorn v's - sweet with the pointy,

the slsmg type of headstock should go on some v's ( symetrical ) , maybe a rhoads 7 string ?

but not on a soloist or rhoads 6 :-)

I like the 3+3 headstocks, but there is just something really cool and badass looking about the classic Jackson head stock, especially when your standing up with one

Pointies all the way for me. Reverse pointy is even better. I just don't like 3+3's........the Y2KV's would have appealed more to me if they had pointies also.

+1 usually i play guitar sitting down but once in a while i decide to stand up and go crazy.. i stand up walk up to the mirror and holyyy shit i never realized how cool the pointy headstock looks .. it looks like a mean sword ready to stab you
If the crowd is shouting for an encore, but the sound guy is shaking his head, ignore him and play anyway

Yeah, I have seen the old roundhorn Vs (i never knew they were called roundhorn though) and I'm not into them. I have the same problem with the rounded charvel starts. A rounded body and pointy a headstock just doesn't look right to me. For the rounded star body i'd go for an explorer style headstock.

ah, see, a hell of a lot of us here are big fans of the old Model series Charvels, and they're all strat* bodies & pointy headstocks

                              * before anyone corrects me, I'm aware that some (3DR, 88, M5&6) are dinky sized and the Model 7 is a tele. Just sayin, is all. All still rounded shapes.
