Looking for opinions........

I've never really like the fact that my '95 Dinky didn't come with pickup rings. I got a set today and laid them on the guitar. What do you think, leave them off or install them.

You can still leave the pups direct mounted, just screw the rings down.

That's exactly what I was going to do.

If I install the rings I'll leave the pickups mounted to the body. I'll drill out the pickup screw holes so that I can still get a pocket screwdriver down in there to adjust the height of the pickups if I need to.

How? The pickups don't care as long as they're close enough to the strings to pick up the vibration.

It's your guitar so do what you want, but personally, I'd leave them off - there's a million guitars out there with pickup rings, but far fewer with direct mounted pickups.

If you're going to use the rings, why not fix the rings on with double-sided tape rather than screwing them. That way it's reversable, and you could always cut the heads off the mounting screws and glue them in place so it looks correct.....

And I agree that pickup rings look better. Without them it looks like an Ibanez. Not sure though if I would drill 8 holes in a mint guitar for that reason. Id say leave it as it is.

Also, keep it original or else we can't verify that guitar here, when it returns from eBay with a new owner in a few years
