I had one of those in the same color. It was a nice guitar, but the wood around the trem posts was too soft, and they started pulling forward. The guitar was returned and I got a Kelly instead.
I like the look with the pickup rings personally. I know there is an advantage, tone wise, with having the pickups direct mounted. As for the pickups getting the vibrations from the body, you could try using black metal rings. That might help transfer more of the body's vibrations to the pickups. I noticed a different sound when I put chrome metal rings on my RR3.
Go for the rings! It's your guitar. Why worry about the re-sale value down the road. If it makes you feel better.......... which equals more playing time with it now, then go for it!

Well, I thought about it and gave myself a night to sleep on it. For now I'm going to leave the rings off. I'm still experimenting with different pickups and not having the rings makes each change that much easier without worry of breaking a ring. Once I find the pickups I want to keep I might throw the rings on.
Thanks for all the replies, I didn't expect this many.
