Hey I paid 250 for this one in mint conditon and then had it painted and its one of the best guitars I have....and I do have a few expensive guitars...its a white pearl base that is just beautiful with the obvious black target. Think I paid like 450 for the paint job....so my vote is...paint it....bullseye!!

BTW Its a Charvel Model 1 painted by Lee at GMW...highly recommended

Can you post a pic of the guitar? Seeing the exact graphic on yours plus seeing the condition of the body (ie chips, dings, scratches, etc) would help people make a better suggestion.

My vote is leave it as is and sell if it's in super great condition. If it's hammered and beat, then go ahead and re-fin. Down the road, historically it seems a re-fin'd guitar sells for less, and more often than not, a fresh perfect re-fin sells for less than original paint with battle scars.

Sure, I'll post a pic of it as soon as I can. Thanks everyone so far!

Just strip it and oil the natural wood.

Hey, isn' that a Fusion? I thought it said DK1 in the title of this thread?
If it looks as good as THIS, then do NOT re-fin!

don't refinish that! buy another dk1 in a different finish. you won't ware out the frets so quick with two guitars.

That's a Fusion - the dead giveaway is the md-sweep switch.

I say don't do it - it won't sound the same after you are done and you'll regret it. Just score a new one first that you like the color of, then sell yours. Lightning paint jobs seem to sell for a premium as well, even if there are plenty of them.

                            That's not a DK1. The older DK1s that were H/S/S only had 22 frets.

So mine is a fusion too?!

EDIT: I don't think it's a fusion, maybe a dinky custom? Or PCS?

Measure the scale. That way you should know for sure if it's a Fusion or not.

btw: guitar is really, really sexy!! May I ask what are you getting instead?
