  • New Jackson Cases = Chinese Pieces of Shit

So I've been through 2 cases for my SLSMG so far, these new cases with the fancy molded front and the 2 interior pockets and stupid Jackson badge, and they have both been total crap. On the first one, the center latch shut so loosely that even closed, I could pop it right open with my fingers, and on the new one, another latch is the same way. So, the case doesn't shut tightly and you can pinch it with your hands and feel/hear it closing more and opening when you let go. And now, there's a big "Made in China" sticker on the bottoms of these cases. Totally lame. So now I have to either try and find an older SLSMG case or get one of the SKB or Gator universal cases. Not impressed at all.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, these things just overall feel cheap compared to the other cases. The case for my Dinky feels so much tougher, on this new one, you can feel the panels depressing ALOT when you put pressure on them, my other case is a lot sturdier...

    The gap...

Me closing the gap with my fingers...

Yep, Global Economy. FMIC has been using China for cases. A similar topic was brought up about 2 weeks ago. They need to start looking for another case company. I've been using Gator for the guitars I build or replacing cases in general.

I take it these are only for the imports and the USA cases are the same as before?

Not as far as I know....the imports fit into the same cases as the USA models and the imports don't come with cases so you have to buy them separately. This is the only case that will fit the 3+3 headstock, so the USA SLS's would've been shipped with these pieces of crap had they still been in production this year.

Global shmobal. The new Ibanez Prestige cases are the best I've seen yet, and you can bet they weren't built in the US (or Japan, for that matter).

I have the same case, sucks. Middle latch springs open all the time, hard to close correctly without manipulating it shut, total crap.

The G&G case for my Dweezil Greenie is not very good either. There's a nice gap in the corner as well it's completely closed.

Yeah, the G&Gs suck too. The past two I've received had bum latches, and could've easily wasted brand new custom Charvies during shipping because of it.

My DK2M case is a piece of crap, but it has the opposite problem. It is warped along the back by the hinges, so it binds when I shut it and requires a ridiculous amount of effort to get it shut. Total garbage. I'm using it as my "beater" case.

i got my lefty jackson dinky2 with a skb case. no rpoblems with it so far,but i dont abuse my gear,i also replace the old case that came with my charvel 475 after the house fire screwed up the latches.so i replaced it with gator gtour flight case.they are a bit heavy but good deal.complaining about after market cases not being a snug fit on guitars/basses is foolish.if you wanted an exact fit go to anvil flight cases and order custom made cases.otherwise customise it yourself.i just wish gator would add a gtour case that would carry explorers, flying v,etc shapes.but dont expect aftermarket cases you by online or tthru certain music stores to be a snug fit for your guitar, unless your ordering a custom case liek an anvil flight case, etc.

What the hell is going on over at Jackson. First they raise the CS prices by 20% or something and then they start using cheap ass cases for their guitars. At this point I am loosing more and more faith in Jackson by the day I didn`t see a reason to switch from the other case to this peice of crap? As a side, my custom fitted G&G case that I ordered with my CS Soloist is awsome man Jack.

It's not just Jackson. It's all of them. The cheapening (is that a word?) of everything.

Try to get your car worked on. Or find a good dentist. Or someone to build your house. Etc.

It's like no one gives a shit anymore.

It's not, how can we make it better? It's how can we make it cheaper, make more $$$ and get away with it.

The Ibanez prestige case is pretty decent. I have one.

I also have a proffesional deluxe Ibanez case from 1990. That case is the best. It will NOT come open unless you intentoinally open it. It has latches that you have rotate, to latch the case.

The case that my USA select came in was ok.

But that old Ibby case is the best for several reasons.

At this point, I'm wondering if it has less with guitar companies being cheap than with the case manufacturers moving all of their production to China. It occurs to me that other than my DK2M case, every case I own (Jackson or SKB) is at least five years old. I'm not sure about my SKB guitar cases, but IIRC my rack case is USA-made. Is that even an option anymore, or is everything Chinese?
