  • 2nd hand 7 string - help identifying

Ok my mate just got this. (from a 'pawn shop' or whatever you wanna call it)
On the back of the headstock it says DR7 so im guessing what it is. Could anyone shed some more light on what this guitar actually is?

    7 string dinky
    back of headstock says DR7
    duncan designed pickups
on the jackson plate thing at the bottom of the neck the number is 9646853
    volume knob fell off

The price he payed was $550 AUD (so thats $425 USD according to xe.com)

Was that a good price? What exact model/year is it? (keeping in mind - all guitars are a bit more expensive here in australia compared to the US)

    and of course, some pictures

I think you hit the nail on the head. Looks like a tobacoo burst Jackson DR7. A japanese import (7 digit seriel). Somone else will tell you how old it is. Think they ran from late nineties for about five years. There's a few threads on them that you can find with the search function and also a rake of reviews at harmony-central. They come up on ebay fairly often, if you want to find out what they're worth.

A pawnshop down here had one hanging there forever with a $250 price tag on it. I don't know if it's still there or not. (7 strings aren't big around here!)

Tis a DR7 - the better of the 2 7 string offerings made 10 years ago (made in Japan). The satin hardware gives it away (the DX7 is chrome). Never seen a sunburst before - fairly rare, but the price is pretty high for that (they are usually black, around $200 to $250 U.S.)....

Youve gotta keep in mind that guitars are more expensive in australia.
For a brand new DX10D for example would be around $900 AUD wich is around $700 USD.

Cool guitar, I wouldn't mind owning something like that.

The headstock looks huge on these 7 stringers
