in the case of a bolt-on, it would be quicker to create a mutt yourself.

Depends on the bolt on :P Certainly can't make a bolt on like mine very easily. If you are making something thats very much a modified USA select guitar, I'd definitely agree.

Umm...so if its done why haven't they sent it to me? Why are they showing it off at a clinic or whatever that is?

Wow thats incredible though, the close up really shows just what an OUTSTANDING job they did on it. I can't blame them for wanting to show that one off. I notice the truss rod cover is missing, maybe they are just waiting for that to be finished.

Whats the details behind that pic AK47, when was it taken, who's that there holding my guitar, was it a clinic, a guitar building workshop?

It looks like a tour of the factory and Mike Kotzen was probably holding it up as an example of what they do. When you walk through there are guitars in all stages of build then in final there are racks of guitars waiting for setups and such .. After they are done they are supposed to be QC'd, inventoried and made ready for shipping. It can take suite a while for all that to happen. I've had guitars go through that process for over a month after they were built waiting for the final stages ..

They give tours of the Jackson factory here in California? How do you sign up for that? I'd definitely like to take that tour.

Well generally it is for dealers unless you know someone. In our case Mike Shannon invited us to go through.

Thanks for the reply Kev, this makes alot of sense actually.
Though these pictures are apparently from 06 (December probably?) it wouldn't suprise me if my guitar is still waiting for a case. I know someone else here had to wait awhile for the custom fit G&G case. Newc maybe.

I feel alot better now though having seen it, don't get me wrong I am dying to play it, but I wasn't sure how my vision would turn out, and it even managed to exceed my expectations through a picture, doubtless it will blow me away once I actually see it in person.

I wonder about the missing truss rod cover? Maybe they were in the process of setting the guitar up when these shots were taken. I did request the gold finished custom shop truss rod cover so maybe it needed to be engraved or somethin.

Yeah it can be kind of crazy.. One guitar IO heard had come out of paint and just needed buffing . I figured that meant I'd see it in a few weeks ... it took 3 more months

I can see the frustration, but Jackson isn't alone. If you have ever had an order from a boutique shop, this is common.I personally don't think I can ever do it again. To think you could be long dead and buried before your guitar shops up is not exciting.
I want my exact specs just like anyone else, but I can and do adapt!!!!

reminds me when i had my house built. it took 9 months for the permits, but only 3 months to build the home.

it is sad when you could knock up your wife the same day you place the C/S order and the baby will be walking before you get the guitar.

I had to wait 20 months for my XTRR and when I got it, it was like *yawn*. I didn't even really play it for more than a few minutes in the first month, because at that point it didn't really interest me much.

I've played it more here and there, and while it is one of my 'dream guitars' and I'm glad I got it when I did, there isn't much enthusiasm for it. Most of that died in the waiting...
