Damn, yall are pretty hard on a girl who's not even out of high school yet. I'm with Ron, I don't care how used to the stage she is, that imagination and wildness doesn't develop until you get into college IMO. Its not about experience on the stage its more about experience in life. Though some people are natural born performers, alot have to work to it. Pretty clear Chelsea isn't a natural performer, she is a natural talent tho. I say keep rockin.

Just to make myself clear. I wasn't criticizing her. It's ok if she's not a rock star. Why isn't it fine for her to just be herself, an incredible guitar player who may or may not grow into an entertainer? That's what I was saying. It may never happen for her. So what if it doesn't?

shit, she's tremendous! that's a talent. wow.
just cause she's not throwing the guitar in the air and playing behind her back and shit doesn't mean she isn't into it.
those are some hard passages and she has to focus. that's about what I do when I play the tough stuff.
it's easy to rock out and get into it on rhythms, but with lead breaks like SATO, most players do about like she does.the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

you can tell she's really worked hard on those solos. copying Randy note for note with feel, is not easy, at least where I live.
she visualises off the fretboard as many players do. hell I live by my dots, at least on the solos. when you have to remember 35-40 solos a night, you do whatever helps you remember them and play them right.Last edited by skorb; 02-28-2007, 03:05 AM.the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

Chelsea's a good friend of mine. I've known her dad Greg for about 12 years now. (by the way, she's only 16, so go easy on the boob jokes). There are alot of neat things going on between she and Charvel right now. You will DEFINITELY be seeing more of this girl in years to come. It's hilarious to see the guys in the local shops cower in fear when she walks in!
I sold her her first guitar, a black '97 LP Custom and I've been trying to get it back from her for a while to no avail. She sent it to Michael Charvel a couple of years ago and had the neck sanded and oiled so it's even more amazing now than before.
I got to play her Sandoval V about 6 months ago. It plays pretty shitty because of its' weight, but it's dripping with history. It'll be worth a ton some day. It's signed by Sandoval and Delores Rhoads under the clearcoat!
Chelsea is a really sweet girl and has a good head on her shoulders. She's a devout Christian and never loses sight of what's important to her. I think she'll actually be able to make it in the music biz since she's not letting her head get clouded with all of the shit that can derail you. Her little sister is even showing interest in shredding already, and she's a 4 yr. old! I saw her the other day and the first thing she said was, " Do you like Steve Vai? He's my favorite!" Imagine that in the cutest baby voice you ever heard!
Stay tuned for info on a cool RR tribute show to be played in Cali in April or May at Musonia. I was told not to get too detailed so I won't!
