RR24 or RR5.....help me choose......

I'm doing my research for my next axe and need a second opinion.....
I want a neck-thru and since I'm not rich I've cut my options to these 2, that and I don't wanna get a USA model because at the amount they cost I'd probably be afraid to play it and I don't need another wall decoration, I intend to play the shite out of it....
None of the finishes on the RR5 really impress me aside from maybe trans red or blue, and it only has 22 frets, but it has a neck pickup.....the RR24 has 24, only the single pickup (but it's active), and I am a sucker for painted bevels........I guess playablility would be the deciding factor (2 less frets doesn't really stress me that much since I'm a mid-lower fret player anyways) but since I live at the ass end of nowhere test driving is kinda not an option for me...this is where y'all come in......

I been pondering the same thing. I am leaning towards the RR5. I like to have a little versatility in my guitars. I can live without the extra two frets as I rarely play that high up anyway though I would prefer an ebony fretboard over rosewood.

If I had the money I would get a RR1 but since that is out of the question for the time being I would prob opt for the RR5. The RR would not be my primary guitar.

Not everyone has a router I think RR5s are amazing playing and looks guitars, while the RR24 is basically to compete with the ESP ltd Alexi Laiho sig, so its geared for your metal players. I would wager they both probably play pretty much the same, so its just what features you want.

I`m for the RR24..
Well think about if you need a floyd and if you need 24 frets...
And of course think about which pickup(s) do you need the most...
For me definetly the RR24...because I miss those 2 frets....
I love the floyd and I only use the neck pickup

None for sale in the classifieds, try eBay... you can get a used RR1 for the price of a new RR24!

Yeah, i suspected so. Specially that black one with yellow bevels, painted to look like his "wildchild" custom he always used before.

For 22 vs. 24 frets.... well, my first guitar was a cheap univox 22 fret strat my parents got me when i was 12 years old. When i was learning solos (megadeth, slayer, etc...) i was constantly pissed off that i couldn't play half of them because my instrument was missing 2 frets. So that lesson really taught me the importance of having a complete instrument. (and i'm really not into 7-string guitars)

The only advantage of a 22 fret is that the neck pup can be a bit further from the bridge, and has a slightly more round, "organic" sound, but the difference really isn't that big.

RR-24. My wife picked one up a few weeks ago used (5 minutes old, ridiculous) and its sound is VERY close to my vintage RR-1.

I do not like the gold hardware on the RR-5 and I do not like the lack of a Floyd.

Although I must admit, the local pawn has an RR-1T there he wants $1200 or and when it hits $1000 (or less) it will be mine...oh yeah, it will be mine!

I have a black RR-1 and this RR-1T is a nice white with stripes.

Its good to have money for toys on a whim...ain't life grand?

I've heard some horror stories about RR24; crappy painting and finishing. Don't know if those are true because I haven't tried or seen one...

My wife plays an RR-24 and we bought it used (1 month old) from a local Daddy's. The fit and finish are as good, if not better, than my RR-1. Granted, we had to have it set up again and we restrung it with 9's but I think they are good axes and certainly smoke the similarly price Alex Laiho LTD stuff ESP puts out.
