Newbie gets a brownie point for being the first to catch that:ROTF:

An SG metal? Even though I don't think it looks metal, you have to admit Heavy Metal was born on an SG.

+1 I don't think you can tie any one guitar or one guitar shape and say it's the most "metal" guitar.

Who would have ever known that Leo Fender, Bill Carson and George Fullerton built the Stratocaster to target the country music bands, to later become a rock and roll guitar, from Buddy Holly, to Hendrix, to later be modded by Van Halen and become a new trend.

The Explorer and Flying V's were used by many Blues bands to later become popular with the Metal crowd and be turned into a "pointy". The list goes......on... Page and the Les Paul......

Funny, I always thought Les Paul and Mary Ford looked out of place using SGs back in their late 50s/early 60s album covers - I keep waiting for them to break out some Metal riffing like Iommi

The Rhoads is the ultimate metal guitar. It was the 1st Jackson, created for a true rocker and metalhead. They are all loosely based on the Rhoads anyway. If Jackson was 15 years earlier, Tony would have got a Rhoads too!

                my thoughts as well.

but you must admit not knowing the yellowing would occur, it's sort of a blessing and a curse. I might be looking at doing a custom repaint on one of those if I had bought it new. I was ready to buy a white one but when I went they were out of white so it was red for me in 1987, best impulse buy ever. the red is as clear and full now as it was new. no cracks either.

                gotta love the Models!

Of course I've gotta post here....

When I think Death Metal, I think of my custom Warrior which was used by Phil Fasciana to record Malevolent Creation's Eternal and In Cold Blood albums:

Rhoads and the BC Rich Warlock were THE metal guitars when I was growing up.

For me, a white Gibson Flying V is very very metal. Or better yet - two white Gibson Flying Vs.

It kinda depends on the guy holding the axe as well.
                            - There are guys who look like wimps despite holding a B.C. Rich Warlock.
                            - Al Jourgensen could make a telecaster look brutal.

As for the shapes themselves, have you checked out Neal Moser Customs?
