How do you pronounce 'Charvel' ?

I feel a bit stupid asking this but I've always thought it was pronounced like 'chop' but yesterday I heard a guy pronounce it like 'shop' (Sharvel). How is it supposed to be pronounced?

I've always said "Shar vel", as that's how I first heard it from a guitar tech around '92. Looks like I was told right!
