Confused!!!

Hi, I have a friend who is wanting to sell me his Charvel. The guitar is in excellent shape and plays great! The problem is he doesn't seem to know what it's worth and I don't either! I know very little about Charvel and the information he's given me about the guitar either contradicts itself or doesnt make sense with what I do know about Charvel. For example, he tells me the only other owner of the guitar was his brother. He also tells me that his brother bought it new around 1974 or 1975 which in itself doesn't make sense to me. He also says it's US made, but it's a Charvette which further confuses me because I though Charvettes were all off-shore! Here's the info he left me: - Charvette by Charvel
- serial # 000788 (I believe he said on the neck plate) and another number (I believe ha said was on the headstock somewhere, I'll confirm this later) #76113 USA
- Fort Worth, Texas

If any of this makes sense to anyone or if anyone can help me out I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!!!!

Aren't Charvette's lower end models? I would think it's probably worth $200 - $300 at the most. The Ft. Worth, TX, plate was used on imports.

Yeah, the Charvettes were low-end models, made in asia. Some were made of real wood, while others were plywood (BEWARE!), and many had crappy single locking trems. I'd rather look for a model series Charvel, to be honest.

Charvettes didn't exist until 1989.
And yea... bottom of the barrel guitar.
$200 - $300 is way too high for a Charvette.

+1....the friend should give you the guitar for free just to get it out of his house!

Even at $100 or $150, you'd be better off to put that money towards a nice Model Series ($250-350) from ebay.

like most people here are telling you, Charvette's are junk. they are a sad chapter in the Charvel story. go find a Model series Charvel on eBay, you'll thank us.

Or if you're low on cash, a CX390 or CX391. Great, Japanese made guitars with awesome trems and nice pickups. Solid bodies too. you can find them around $150.
