Andy, you're right, the logo does look smaller now. There isn't a difference between logos on custom shop vs. "production" guitars. They're all the same logos. However, the custom shop does use different sized logos, especially on Charvels. For instance, strathead logos are generally smaller than pointyhead logos. There are also different types of logos - some are silkscreened and some are decals.

I can't tell for sure from the pics, but it looks like the original logo on your headstock might've been the silkscreened type. And, generally speaking, those are a little bigger. It looks like the new one is a decal, which is a little smaller. (...And is what should've been on a pointyhead to begin with.)

It could also be that they just ran out of the pointyhead size decal in gold, as they're probably doing less pointyhead necks now. i.e., Since they stopped production on the USA Standard series. So they might've just used the only thing they had left available - the smaller strathead size decal in gold.

Honestly, I'm just edumicated guessing here. ...And that kind of thing even happened back in the San Dimas days. Like when they transitioned out of SD. They used the last of the Charvel logos and ran out. But they still had Charvel neckplates, so the last SD "Charvel" guitars had Jackson logos with Charvel plates.

Anyway, either way the repair looks great. And very cool that they got it back to you so quickly. Congrats.

Thanx a million Pat. Just got playing it, ohhhhhh the neck is to die for.I missed my SD alot.
I even pulled out the YJM and played it in the meantime, but did not suffice.
just couldnt get the sound I get with the SD.

Now that its back.. im digging the smaller logo. Its a "Strat head size" it looks like.Ive been searching looking for any new pointy's to compare.
Comparing them, the new smaller logo's font seems to be more clear and detailed as well. Especially the "R" and "Made in USA".over all the logo looks more hi rez and being brighter,Pops with the tuners/bridge/Pup ring.

I saw two Charvels at GC earlier this week with exactly the same problem, in the exact same place on the headstock.

One was a copperhead finish; I can't remember what the other one was.

I saw them and tought of you.

Edina per chance? I bet one was Copperhead and the other was Red Ghost Flames, right?

I don't agree with your theory. I'm more inclined to believe that they knew the Charvel line was going to be MIJ only, so they decided to use up all of the Charvel plates before the move was complete.

Since all the pre-Ontario Jacksons were serialized in order, and all the ones after the move wasn't, would support my theory, because they moved the boxes containing the Jackson plates before production at Glendora was finished, and when they arrived in Ontario, the boxes were so out of order that they decided to just pull boxes out of the top instead of sorting a couple pallets worth of neck plates.

So all of the last guitars from Glendora had Charvel plates put on them, regardless if they were Charvels or Jacksons, because all of the Jackson plates had already been moved.

What I'm curious to know is if production for any given amount of time was concurrent.... like some staff finishing the last of the guitars at Glendora at the same time while other staff were cutting necks and painting bodies at the new facility...

I'm confused, Mike. Not sure what you disagree with, as I think we're saying the same thing. Aren't we?
