    Hey Ken there is no body binding on mine. All the Trans Black ones I have seen do not have any. I was a little disappointed that it did not have it.

          UPS = Unlimited Parcel Smashing

          You should have been here one day when the UPS guy literally rolled a 21" CRT monitor on to our front porch. The corners of the box had been smashed, and it rolled really good. I could hear the glass tinkling inside as it was rolled, and the UPS guy pretended like nothing was wrong.

          Yes, the guy packed it very well, it had that heavy styrene form fitting foam around it, and the thinnest point I could find was three inches. Someone dropped it, and probably from the back of the truck. One corner of the foam had been compressed really bad, and that will only happen if it was dropped from a considerable height.

          Have them detune the guitar to take the stress off of the neck/headstock, make sure that the guitar does not move in the case and pad it if it does, then box the case and pad it well! The guy who shipped my RR3 did an excellent job doing just this. If it is secure in the case, and the case is secure in the box, it should arrive just fine.

          Plus he sent the RR3 via FedEx...lol!

            That's a pity, but it's still a beautiful guitar.

              I second: DO NOT USE UPS!

                  Ask the shipper to take pictures of the whole packing process, what he fills the box with (peanuts, etc.) how the guitar is packed inside the case, and inside the box. If something happens during shipping and you file a claim, the first thing they'll try and say is you didn't pack it properly. Without pics, you'll be S.O.L.

                    I recently had a luthier tell me that detuning is not a good thing to do when shipping (I've always done this). When in tune, a properly set up guitar is at is "equilibrium point". The whole purpose of the truss rod is to balance out the tension put on by the strings. By detuning, you are now "out of equilibrium" and have a great risk of headstock breakage. Matt Bruck recently said something similar in his Guitar World column as well.

                      Its funny, but Jackson ships the guitars new from the factory in tune and nothing more than a cardboard box with a thin piece of foam on one end of the box against the case and thats it! Why don't they have more shipping damage that we hear about?

                        Guys, the guitar has shipped and is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I sent the seller most of the advice you gave. All I can do now is wait (and pray) for tomorrow. I'll keep you posted...

                          SLATQH's are incredible guitars. I wasn't looking for one at the time but I played one at a local store upon recommendation from Remcarr and now I own two of them! Awesome guitars without a doubt. Damn that Remcarr

                            Awesome Guitar! I've bought a couple of SLATQH and other neck thru jackson's through eBay...sent UPS or FED EX and they all arrived fine. The seller seems reputable and I'm sure they'll pack the guitar properly.

                            You're gonna' love that guitar!

                              Guys,

                              The guitar arrived today in perfect condition! It was VERY well packed, and arrived via UPS. I have yet to lose a guitar to UPS/FedEx/etc. - ~20 some guitars bought/sold - maybe I've just been lucky. I was just a little bit more concerned with this particular guitar because of the all-too-common crack at the nut. I'll post some pics in a day or two - she's absolutely stunning!
