Can anyone tell me what year IMC sold Jackson Guitars to AMIC? I tried to find the answer to this question on my own, but I couldn't find it. However, I did find out that both companies are located in Fort Worth, and they both worked on some of the same musical instrument projects together. Can anyone tell me about the relationship between IMC and AMIC and what role did Jackson guitars play in it? Was there some kind of merger or buy out?

You can kind of piece it together from wikipedia. From what I can get C/J merged with IMC in 86 and sold to AMIC in 89 but wikipedia is not always accurate

Thanks for trying to help me with my question SkateRags. I saw the Wikipedia entry for Jackson Guitars, and it says that Grover sold to IMC in '86 and it was sold to FMIC in '02, but it never mentions anything about AMIC. That confirms what I already knew, but it does not answer my question.

I had not seen the Wikipedia entry for Charvel Guitars until you mentioned it Skaterags, thanks. The Charvel Guitars entry in Wikipedia says that Grover sold to AMIC in '89, but it never mentions anything about IMC.

Now I'm really confused. Can anybody help me with this?

I'm pretty sure that AMIC took over Jackson and Charvel around 1994 due to the fact that the UK distributor, JHS lost the franchise and Akai UK took over the brands. JHS used to distribute various IMC products such as Hondo, Ross and possibly Gorilla Amps.

Can anyone confirm Jacksonwolf's date of 1994?

I read the threads on this forum often because Jackson makes the only guitars that suit me, and people here seem to know the facts.

Maybe nobody likes my question? I dunno...

According to the book "ELECTRIC GUITARS: The Illustrated Encyclopedia", AMIC aquired Jackson Guitars in 1997. Incase anyone else was interested.
