  • Kevin Bond vs RR1

    Hey Guys,

If you had to choose between a Kevin Bond Signature model or an RR1, which would it be? Make sure you factor in price in your decisions. I know this question is kinda dumb, just need to toss around some ideas though.

It would be easier comparing the RR-5 to the RR-1. The KBRR is all mahogany and will sound a lot differently to both those. I guess if I wanted a Floyd, I'd save up for the RR-1. I'd much rather take an RR24 though. I'd personally also pick the RR-5 over the KBR, because of the inlays alone (pentagrams look so "wannabe evil" to me).

Buy both of them If you had to choose only one buy KBRR if you don´t use whammy bar when playing. Buy RR1 if dive bombs is what you need in your playing. KBRR is made in Japan and RR1 is made in USA. I prefer USA Jackson´s because they have a better quality. Changing the strings is very easy with KBRR and it´s much cooler than most of the RR1´s...

I would say KBRR if the single pickup thing and the inlays work for you. If you need 2 pickups but still don't need a trem, get an RR1T. If you have to have a trem, then the choice is either a RR1 or an early 90's Rhoads Pro neck through.

I hate pickguards, so the RR1 is out.. I don't like the inlays and the bridge on the Bond.. so.. RR24!

Combine the features of both and get an RR24

I know some people that gave away their USA series for a KB....
I love my RR-1 personally but I'm still searching a good option for a fixed bridge axe.
So the Kevin Bond can be my first option, along woth a RR-1NT (but for thsi I still miss the money)

Normally Id say RR1 because I usually have to have a Floyd and a neck pup... But with the new band Im in, its all tuned really low so a hardtail is a better choice, and I wouldnt use the neck pup so its really a toss up. Just not real big on the inlays... LOVE the Iommi pickup though!

I like the looks of the KBR over the RR1 but I was disappointed with the rhythm sounds and pickup of the KBR...I have tried RR1s that have better feel (IMHO) and tone...If it were up to me I would go for the RR1...

In France, the Price of the RR1 is twice the price of the KBRR it's much easier to find a KBRR in the market...

I tested a Kevin Bond with the Dimebucker and a RR1 with the SH4 on the same Amp and the Kevin Bond had a killer sound, very incisive. But the quality of finition look better in the RR1. I think I haven't tryed the RR1 enough.

                              I have to try once again a RR1 !!!
