I have also used the term, Ibenhad, but I don't find it derogatory (sp?) hell I knowingly prenounce Charvel wrong, just because I am used to calling it a different name (pronounced "Charv-ul" as opposed to "Elle")

I enjoy a good Krammer as much as the next guy, an Epimaphone (Simpson's rip-off, but still good), Bender, and good ol' E-S-Pee
Well, I guess it's just perception. I'm sure Ibanez lovers find Ibenhad quite derogatory...

What goofy name do fans of the above guitars call Jackson? Jerkson?

Who cares. I will admit there are a lot of Jackson guitars I wont even pickup just to check it out. Example:JS series
              Just one more guitar!

Thats an interesting question. I don't think Jackson has a bad name like that. But I do like Jerk-sons. Jacks-offs is good too...

Satriani is an alien. No doubt about it...

Call it what you want, if it plays good, I'm there...

Most of the opinions sounded mixed. A few people gave Jacksons (especially USA's) a pretty good rating. For a forum that's meant to promote Ibanez I'd say Jackson did pretty good.

I don't know. I though it was interesting they said "the kind of people who buy Jackson." I'm the "kind of people" that enjoys a kick ass guitar, like a Jackson.

That's not to say that they're terrible or anything - they are decent units. But a lot of guys talk up the Edges as if they're an improvement on an OFR. And, IMHO, it's not even close.

Well...ive got 2 J' Craft upper end Ibenads"! And both of them will do something that only a few OFR can..completely "Slack" the strings completely OFF the fretboard, and when i release the trem arm...
back in tune! Even the 88' Floral Jem does it! I cant figure out why..
but they work perfectly. For me though...The Jacksons/Charvels that
i have played and spent time with are equal in every way quality wise
to the best JEM. So imo Neither is the leader. Both are great in their
                        own designs.

If you ask me I wouldn't say very good things about Ibanez hardware or Ibanez guitars in general, having had 2 high end ibanez's. I know lots of guys (including some on this board) who will swear by their ibanez's, so I guess they're just not for me.

The fanboy "jackson still uses square neck plates" mentality is annoying though, but I guess if people want to go buy an ibanez because Vai plays one, then more Jackson's for me!:ROTF:
I dont understand that one either? 80% of all Ibanez RG's and Jems
have the all access neck joint...no plate?

I think that for any brand it boils down to the cost-vs-performance of the part. Otherwise known as "You get what you pay for". I love the original Edge and the OFR used on the higher end Ibanez and Jacksons, but do not care for the Ibanez LO-TRS or Jackson JT-580 as much............I thought Fender did a great thing by going to real Duncans and EMGs on the MIJ Jacksons, but wish they had done the same with the trem and had switched to a real German-made OFR and Locking Nut.

The one thing that really bugs me with the newer imported Charvels and Jacksons is the quality of the pots and selector switches. They almost invariably get noisy beyond a contact cleaner fix in no time. Ibanez switches and pots are much better. Never had to replace any........

In contrast, Ibanez metal parts (especially the older models) don't age as gracefully and become oxidized, corroded and rusty quickly...........

I have nothing against Ibanez but as far as quality goes, Ibanez has no room to talk. I have a couple higher end Ibanez's, one being a John Petrucci P1 with Picasso graphic and the other being a USA Custom with shattered glass graphic. They both play fine but they feel light and cheap to me compared to my Jacksons or even ESP's for that matter. The necks are not for me, way too thin! Anyway, if someone on the Ibanez forum prefers their Ibanez thats fine with me. It doesn't change my mind, Jacksons are the best and thats why I buy them and play them. I bought the two Ibanez's I wanted and really can't think of any others I'd want so I think I'm done with them anyway
