I have a DK2M, a Dinky XL Professional, and a number of other Jacksons. If you aren't in a position to try before you buy, it can be a bit of a guessing game with the older Jacksons. Two guitars of the same model could have had very different specs from the factory (basswood vs. alder, JT-6 trem vs. Schaller/JT-590, Jackson pickups vs. "name brand") if they are a year apart, and of course you never know how the previous owner(s) treated it.

I've been very happy with my DK2M, and it really doesn't need any upgrades. My feeling on trems is that I stick with the factory unit until it needs to be replaced, and of course pickups are a matter of personal taste. I will say that the JB sounds better in the DK2M than in other guitars I've owned. And it is a classy looking guitar.
