When you see how big and goofy that Dean headstock looks in person you'll wish you would have picked the Jackson. That headstock is also heavy as hell and it throws the balance way off. I like roundhorn V's though.

I hate Dean's headstocks! I'm pretty sure the guitars are made in China.
The Jackson's neck is simply awesome. The Jackson's fretwork is also great. The cheaper Dean's I've seen dont exhibit that great a fretwork. I've owned and sold a Chinese made Dean and can tell about about the bad fretwork. I'd go for the Jackson.Sam

To be fair, most of Jackson's RR and KV bolt-ons are neck heavy too. Some forumites like to move the front strap pin to make them balance better.
I'd personally still pick the Jackson though. There's just something off looking about the Dean V. Not sure what it is, and for the record, I like roundhorn Vs a lot.

Apart from the looks...The Jackson is gonna be a bright sounding guitar...with its alder body and maple neck plus bolt-on. The Dean on the contrary will be darker sounding with its Mahogany body and set neck. Which tone do you prefer?
the gold hardware gives the guitar somewhat a vintage vibe. The jackson looks "Metal" all-round. What's your preference?
The input jack is on the front for the dean. yuck! However, the Jackson's is on the lower horn. this could pose a problem while trying to play sitting...Sam
