I don`t like either, even though the Dean only has 1 pickup which is my favorite. On a side not, I have heard from the Dean forum that Dean is moving production out of China to I am not sure where, but I think they are going to consentrate more on Korea and Japan, great news for Dean players. The China Deans are junk and way overpriced by far!!

I am fairly sure that dean is made in korea as I said earlier, but also yes, dean are making more of their imports in korea now.

Japan... Dean would never offer such value!

Oh shit! Aren't the Chinese the ones using lead paint? You better go with the Jackson.

I had a black gold v for a very brief time, the build quality was pretty shitty...the nut was plastic!!! Felt like I could break the guitar in half without much effort...maybe I got a dud...save up and get a usa dean or jackson! You wont regret it!

What's wrong with a plastic nut...?

My LTD DV8-R has a plastic nut I think...

plastic is a pretty poor material for nuts the strings will stick in it constantly causing them to go out of tune more frequently than a graphite, bone or brass nut

i like the dean, but on the other hand why not stop letting money burn a hole in your pocket and save up for a more decent guitar than either of those 2, or maybe if ur over 18 or have a generous dad, you could look into getting a good finance deal on an rr 24 whicvh hasd the added bonus of a real floyd

Yes, the better Dean`s are made in Korea, but Dean does work with a Japanese guitar maker and will make special runs in Japan, but like you say, be prepared to pay big $$$$$$ for it

If you ever buy a USA Dean, you're paying $4000 for a U.S masters guitar.

                      U.S masters guitar=U.S masters guitar
Dean USA guitar= Funny shaped U.S masters guitar +$2500

I would go with the Jackson. I love the traditional Roundhorn V as well. I am actually having one built (not by Jackson) but that Blue Ghost Flame looks killer. I have a RR1 in the same finish and I love it. Also, one humbucker sounds like a good idea until you realize you actually DID want a neck pick-up.

I despise the Dean headstocks, plus I despise rounded corner Vs. If The Dean was a Mustaine V I might consider it, but between those 2... Jackson.

The other guitarist in my band just bought a Dean V... its the cheap XV model. First off, the headstock is WAY too big, just looks goofy... its worse in person than in pictures. And dont get me started on the neck. It feels like a raw baseball bat... very rough "finish" if you wanna call it that. That and the body is like 3 pieces; you can see the lines.

I know it was a bottom of the barrel model, but for fucks sake, the JS series is bottom of the barrel JC and they play and feel surprisingly good for their price!
Imagine, being able to be magically whisked away to... Delaware. Hi... Im in... Delaware...
