  • Blackie's Jackson?

Finally got to see WASP the other day, phew - one of the best gigs I've been to in 25 years.

Just wondered what Blackie's Jackson was - black strat-style pointy with a Raiders graphic, the body looked upside-down (long horn on the bottom) - is it a custom?

yeah, he has a few lefty bodied soloists from what i recall. not too sure, but i believe that they had tom/stoptail setups.

He has two custom Jacksons like this - one with Raiders logo on black background, and a Texan flag on another (red background, blue X with white stars). Both are reverse bodies, sharkfin inlays and standard Jackson headstocks.

actually last time i saw them i was even more interested in the second guitar player's Jackson Les Pauls, i had never seen one of those before.
              Any info on those ones?
By the way, it was a pretty good gig (well emperor was also playing that night, so it got a bit blurred in my mind)

That'd be Doug Blair. Yes, I was pretty blown away with those too, though don't think they're Jacksons - I was only a few rows from the front and didn't looked like a Jackson logo on there (my first thought was also "Wow! a Jackson Les Paul"). This was about the best pic we got (apologies for quality - camera phone):

He has sucked ever since he dropped the bass...

Should be playing BC Rich Widows...

But I guess I lost interest when they changed their "look" before the "Electric Circus" debacle...

Sorry... I guess that wasn't very helpful...

that would be his mic stand.

and yeah, definitely NOT a texas flag...that's a confederate flag on the non raiders jackson.

...and yes, there IS a difference.

                            +1

I can see the microphone, but that's not what he's grabbing. If that whole (whatever it is) is the mic stand, the audience would have a hard time seeing him. Anyway, I really liked their first album and "F#*k Like A Beast" when it came out. I think he should have kept Chris Holmes and stuck with the bass. He has a good voice.

Well, newbie, that IS in fact his mic stand (why would you doubt Sully?)

If you google "blackie lawless mic stand" you'd find out about it. This from wikipedia:

As part of the W.A.S.P. stage performance, Blackie mounts a demonic-looking metal sculpture that doubles as a microphone stand (Known by fans and Blackie as 'Elvis'). Reportedly weighing in excess of 1,000 lbs., it is mounted on springs to allow Blackie to climb atop and swing from it during the show to dramatic effect. This mic stand is often cited by the band as the reason for its cancellation of shows, due to its tremendous weight being too heavy for the stage.
