  • 2007 International Musical Instrument Fair

This past Sunday I dropped by the International Musical Instrument Fair which was being held in Yokohama.

Mike Shannon was at the Jackson Stars booth, and I got to chat with him for a little bit (although I spent more time interpreting for my Japanese buddies than talking to him on my own).

I know you guys want pics, so here they are:

Here's a photo of me and Mike:

Apparently, they're coming out with a maple fingerboard Dinky in the Jackson Stars line as well.

The coolest thing... MIJ Charvels now come in stratheads

    And of course, the Surfcaster:

To answer some questions that were posed in another thread in the Import Jackson forum:

Chushin Gakki only makes Jackson Stars and Jacksons for the international (outside of Japan) market. No BC Riches and no Caparisons are made there.

Chushin Gakki had been considering marketing the MM1 Dominion model as a Jackson Stars model in Japan, but now that Yamano Musical Instruments has taken over the marketing aspect of the business, this is still up in the air.

Custom and semi custom orders will be suspended until Yamano Musical Instruments sets up a system through which they will take orders from dealers, such as Ishibashi, Ikebe, etc. The representative from Yamano said that they hope to be able to start taking custom and semi custom orders starting around June of 2008.

      Hope this helps!

Oh! and one more thing... Starting in 2008, Jackson Stars will change back to 43mm as the standard nut width for their guitars

Thanks for the pictures and for asking all our questions QR. I hope you had a good time at the fair. It looks cool and that's a fantastic display of Jackson Stars gear. Even little things, like the natural binding on the trans black soloists, are awesome.

June 2008 seems a long way away for them to have the custom/semi-custom ordering system back in place. Presumably it will have a new pricing structure? I missed out ordering a custom 7 by three days, as I delayed on pulling the trigger. That'll teach me: no more thinking, just obey the GAS.

I want that white Charvel Model C!
I wish they would release those here in the US.
An import model Strat head with a Dinky body and an OFR... those would FLY off the walls if they were priced right.
According to the price on the hang tag, 168,000 Japanese Yen = 1,467.59 US Dollars, that would not do well here.

Great pics - thanks for sharing.

The flame Kellys look awesome. I wonder what the colored inlay material is?

And the Japanese strathead Charvels look pretty cool, too. Looks like Original Floyds and real Duncans, too. Interesting that they're all Dinky bodies and recessed trems. Hopefully the US gets some of those imports at reasonable prices.

                      I'd like a Surfcaster.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

What's the deal with the Warriors? One seems to have a long horn, the other a short horn.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
