I don't hate a single thing about My JAcksons. But I dop hate when people bring in JAcksons to sell or trade in and they'r beat up and nasty and out of tune and all just schmeged up all nasty and stuff. Then of course they call me over to look at the guitar. Sometimes I love my job.

I hate the fact that I paid £2000 ($2700?) for a USA Soloist and it just won't play right. It has appalling fret buzz on the top E, the pickups sound like an angry wasp trapped in a jar, the paint in the front pickup cavities is messy, and the body has a less substantial feel to an older Soloist. On top of that, one of the saddles on the Floyd split in half in less than 4 months of taking delivery. I've had better Fords!

Re: What do you hate about your Jackson?

Yeah never mind the fact it travelled across the water by AIR, which means it went through severe pressure changes, then how soon after getting it did you try to do a setup on it? You are aware that wood expands and contracts?
Look, admit it, you screwed around with it before letting it settle in to its new environment which is totally different than the environment it was made in. If my import DK2 came with a a smokin setup, surely you don't think a USA Select is just thrown out the door? Puhlease. Whatever's wrong with it is most likely YOUR doing.
Take it to a shop and let them fix it.
The pickups sound like crap? What amp are you using? Did you by any chance use EMGs with the amp before getting the Soloist? And you had this amp's tone set for this other guitar? Uh-huh.
Messy paint IN the cavity? Is it on the surface of the body? Didn't think so. Sorry, they don't put a spit and polish glass paintjob in the cavities. They never have. No one does, except for those paint-by-numbers Ibenhads that are hung on a dry-cleaner's rack and passed through a robotic paint room like a car door.

Scale length and neck width. Three of my Jacksons have 1-11/16" wide necks, one has a 1-3/4" neck. I prefer 1-5/8". All are 25.5" scale and I prefer 24.75". Not big problems, but not my preference.

Re: What do you hate about your Jackson?

NewC,

I've had the guitar since October 2001, we're now in April 2003...it still isn't right. Nearly every single guitar that comes into the UK is imported, I have several of them, they all play better than my Jackson. I have Japanese Charvels, American Gibsons etc, all fine...new Jackson...no. Every guitar I buy, I adjust to my specification, no problem...except my Jackson.

I use Marshall and Peavey valve amps. Prior to the arrival of this Jackson, I used lesser quality passive pickups...like it mattered, I paid £2000 for this Jackson, it should sound like a dream.

I haven't 'screwed around' with this guitar, I don't screw around with any guitar, why would I; I've been playing long enough to know what's right for me. If I pay £2000 for a guitar, it has to surpass the £700 I paid for my Japanese Model 6, otherwise, what's the incentive to get the real American deal? My Model 6 is finished to a way higher specification than my USA Soloist, which I find unacceptable. You, on the other hand, seem to be privy to information on my guitars that I seem to be oblivious to!

So, after considering your 'knowledge' of my guitar, I have to conclude, you know nothing.

Sean.

Re: What do you hate about your Jackson?

Then my theory is correct - intelligence is in the mind of the beheader

Now look, the Model 6 was hung on a hanger and passed through a robotic paint room. Everything that wasn't taped over got painted, then clearcoated. The Soloist was painted by a man holding a sprayer and clearcoated the same way - by hand. So what if the cavities aren't glossy, is the main partof the body glossy? Then what's the problem?? You really care if the cavities are glossy? How anal can you get?
And have you taken the guitar to a shop to be set up? Do you still try to set it up or do you just leave it where it is and complain about it? Yeah I know the USA Custom Shop ain't perfect, and I got the Rhoads to prove it, but Jeez I ain't raggin about pickup cavities being sloppily painted!
And yes, I too have been playing long enough to know how I like my guitars and how to set them up. Maybe some of us know more about it than others.

I hate the fact I want more of them

wendell easy mod for those mini switch use on/on/on 3 way mini's in the first 2 spots,

1st neck & middle gives you neck, neck & middle, middle

2nd switch 1 & the hum, which gives you watever you have the top switch selected with bridge or bridge alone.

3rd switch either a kill swtich, coil tap, or bridge hum bypass. which will put the bridge pickup direct out to the jack.

its a little confusing but works great & is easily done w/no mods that cant be undone.

as far as Sean is concerned. That's all a forum is about. Causing a stir is the only thing on his agenda. He's on teh Jackson forum, and all he does is b!tch about everything here. annoying people.

Newc,

Sorry, I must have missed your 'theory'. I recall stating what I hate about MY (MY!) Jackson, then you came in and predicted the atmospheric pressure of my house, my mental capacity in relation to setting up a guitar to my own spec, the pickups I was using and the EQ on my amps!

Is it O.K. if I tell you what I can't tolerate about your guitars? Don't tell me what they are, I'd like the same privilege of an uninformed guess like you had...

I answered this question.

I didn't come here to disrupt, I answered about MY Jackson. Did you read that...MY Jackson.

Who came here to cause trouble? I didn't dispute what anyone else said about THEIR Jackson.

Newc did...and I take the abuse???

Once again...MY Jackson, not yours, MINE!!
