Yeah yeah yeah all you think about is yourself

Sorry for stomping your little toesies there, Sean, but you sounded like you needed help with that $2000+ guitar.

Shoo!

I do need help Newc, which is why I posted. I saved up for 16 years to buy my 'ultimate' guitar; and it's not right. I don't know what £2000 means in the USA, but where I'm living, it's considered madness to spend that amount on anything that isn't bricks and mortar or hasn't got four wheels. Scoff all you like, my life savings went on this guitar. I answered this thread, then you bounce in with your assumptions.

'WHAT DO YOU HATE ABOUT YOUR JACKSON?'

I answered, you argued...

dude my advice is that you talk to Kevin Easton, he might be able to discuss with you the problems with your guitar and if he feels he can fix it you can ship it to his shop.

Peace, don't fight in this interesting thread.

Rodrigo,

Sorry, I didn't envision a fight, I just said what I hated about my Jackson; others took offence.

Thanks for the advice.

Sean.

Re: What do you hate about your Jackson?

Sorry, Sean, but as you are aware we do get many people in here who don't know how to set up a guitar and then complain about it not having a factory setup that matches their wet dream, and they don't realize the basics I mentioned. It's also difficult to remember who's an "old hand" and who's a "newbie".
I didn't take offence at your issues with your Jackson as much as I took offence at the idea your post indicated - that the USA Custom Shop (which, of course) makes all the USA Selects would ship out crap and take real money for it. Yes I'd be upset as well, even if it was a $500 beater USA Jackson (been there) but I'd also explore all my options to have it corrected if I couldn't do it all myself. Imagine my horror when that PCS Rhoads ($1350) got here and it had those God-awful Nu-Metal strings on it, and the truss rod woudln't turn to get the relief out of the neck! I thought I was royally screwed!
Anyway, I gave it another shot a few days later and it turned just fine.
I was no less enthused to get a brand new JCF Rhoads with factory flaws. The only reason I didn't send it back was fear of having UPS snap the head off somewhere along the line, which would mean another year-long wait for a replacement IF I could prove UPS did it, which is nearly impossible.
If I could find someone local that could do the repairs to the finish, I'd have it done. Same with a setup - if I can't do it myself, I'll find someone who can.

Cheers.

Sean, it is all fun man!...

Hey since you guys over Europe are paying the big bucks for guitars, would any of you happen to want my Charvel shipped for just US$2500.. I mean come on!... that's cheap for UK standards, isn't it!..

What I hate most about Jackson in general is they're owned by Fender
Ah well, could be worse - could be Ibanez, ESPee, or (horror of horrors) Gibson! Imagine being able to buy a BGF SL2H from MusicYo for $49! The SHAME of it all

Re: What do you hate about your Jackson?

What I don't like is that Jackson posts on here and asks us what we want and then puts a few new things out that don't come near what we asked for. The new Charvel line that came out last year is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. The Journeyman came close, but they didn't put the 22 fret maple board, Floyd or the pointy headstock on it and they put a coil tap and a tone knob on it. WHY?!

The baby snake was setup by Kevin Easton and I requested that he put 9's... however, when it came I felt the strings were a bit thicker than on the Charvel... maybe 10's?? or 9.5s???... probably Kevin thought it would be criminal to kill the SL-2H's tone by putting 9s... I guess... Ahhh, and the strings going out of the board is less of a problem on this guitar than the charvel, yes.

I also can hear how the low E changes tuning when you strum the strings hard... I dont know, this is a weird feeling on this guitar.

As far as pulling the little e string off the fretboard I have that problem on my 89 fender strat but not on any usa jackson or jap charvel that I have.Do like George Lynch does use a narrower floyd nut to move the string placement in just a little bit.I had an esp kamikazi set up like that it was ok just not for me.
Really? well screw Mark Twain.

I don't hate anything about my Jackson - I managed to pick up a JJ4 really cheaply and even though I've got problems with some of the electrics it plays really well and sounds cool

What I DO hate its my flaming car which needed new brakes and that's why I didn't get an DK2 in Crimson Swirl from OSG and had to go for the JJ4 in an "old AMIC stock" sale

I agree with several others, i hate the volume pot placement on my sl2h. Its too far forward (towards the neck) and too high up towards the bridge pup. It's forced me to remove the knob and just use the bare pot pole. Other than that, nothing else i hate, there are some dislikes... such as having to shave my pup cavities in order for EMG's to fit.
