The DR-7 I had was a total disappointment all the way. I didn't have any lifted frets, but there were a couple that weren't well leveled. Jackson really missed the boat with that series. The COW-7 is a much, much better guitar.

And, of course, there are always the Jackson Stars 7-string Soloists out there.

Still undecided here... I may just contact the seller. I mean, what am I gonna do with another $300 guitar I cant play?

        Is a bound fingerboard?
It really isn't all that difficult of a job, unless you never work on guitars.
If the frets aren't radiused properly, they can be pulled and formed (slightly over-radiused), then lightly glued and tapped back in.
Binding can be tricky, though, for pulling frets...but it can be done with care,
depending on how the binding was applied.

Not sure about the older guitars, but the COW-7 kills and I've heard nothing but great things about it.

I played on a 7 string schecter in GC and it just felt like a very good guitar. Great construction and overall good quality. I'm thinking, I should pick up a 7 string just so I could learn to play a few Nevermore songs.

No binding. I can do the job with the right tools (which I cant currently afford to buy) but I shouldnt have to.

As for Schecters... I never liked them. They feel like theyre made out of balsa wood and cardboard. Never seem to sound very good either... atleast to me they dont. My singer has one, its gaudy and just feels cheap. Real EMG's tho!

Huh. So stop complaining and either return it, or flip it.

I've been shopping for a Jackson, and have not been happy with the most recent ones I've come across. So-no buy, even though they look killer and play very well. If the quality isn't there, then I won't bite. If you got it at a dealer, then take it,or send it back. If it was an individual, take it up with the seller. I doubt if Jackson is going to take care of your problem, unless it was a Custom Shop, in that case...good luck. Personally, if the frets were the only issue, I'd take a couple of minutes and smack them down. So I guess I missed the point, somewhere. I suppose you're saying Jackson makes inferior guitars. All manufacturers have their low points.

LOL did you read what I wrote? No Im not saying Jackson makes inferior guitars. I love and only play JC, so obviously thats not the case. My point is that these guitars were most likley made wrong, and that pisses me off. No, I dont expect Jackson to do anything about it.

These guitars were made in 99 I believe, or somewhere around that area. This is the only QC issue Ive ever had with them, the other new guitars Ive seen/played are great... not a bad thing about any import that Ive seen.

Yes, I read it. This has all gotten a bit confusing to me. So that's why I suggested both...and got my tail jumped either way. So, when I buy one myself, I'll give an opinion. Until then, I'll not volunteer answers. I'll be interested in what the outcome is.

been playing my NOS ke-7 since 2005, no problems... took a nasty fall and only chipped off some paint, still holding up just great a year later.

bought a second hand beaten up rr-7r, also no problems there. still bummed out over having to sell it!

Glad to hear they are taking it back, and sorry I got hard on you about it.
I'll keep my eye out, when I'm shopping for a seven string.
