i believe the brass TOM was made by ABM? APM? something like that. anyway, they are the same style that was used on the PCS rhoads.

Exactly which one, I'm not sure, but it looks like a nashville style.
I have one on the bich project, and they are well built.

Sully's right. Not a Gibson piece and kind of hard to find nowadays.

APM == American Precision Metalworks == a division of Kahler. They made lots of guitar h/w besides Kahler's.

Actually, I recently tried one out myself, Tim. I agree - real sweet guitar. I liked the SC250 even more, though - preferred the longer 25" scale length and the locking tuners.

              The SC245 sounds better though.

I didn't notice much difference. Are the PUs different between the two models?

Hmm, good to know. I didn't try them back-to-back, as the two models were at different dealers. Thanks.

What is the scale length on the Polka Dot V of Randy's? Having a Danalectro neck, what scale length would it be? If 25.5, maybe Randy got a liking for V's in that scale, if not, maybe he would have gone for another Gibson scaled one.

Don't forget that Randy had a Strat that he loved, too. Didn't use it much with Ozzy, as it was 3 SCs, but he'd been photo'd with it.

Unless someone produces an interview or some other convincing evidence, we shouldn't assume that he favored short-scale guitars just because of his famed Les Paul. For all we know, it could've been just the opposite or he may not have even had a preference.

Also, Nobody ever refers to Randy with his Black LPC either... If I remember it correctly it was a 3 PU LPC Black Beauty with the covers removed yes?

Randy also used Deans. Here's a collection of his guitars.

Did Randy even know there were different scale lengths between Fender vs. Gibson guitars? I know that in my early 20's I didn't know thet were different. Now that I've palyed them both I still can't say that I prefer one over the other really. Perhaps Randy was the same way...like me, yeah yeah, thats it
