Words cannot describe how utterly dissapointed in Jackson I am this year. It would have been nice to see a new model for the import line or atleast some changes to existing models...particularly the Soloist.

I agree., or at least better colors, a better pick-up selection and mid priced customizable orders on parts, this way Jackson can do what they are best at, BEEN FLEXIBLE for the players.

Really wished Jackson introduced new, or even updated models. New Japan Soloists with OFR trems and EMG's anyone?
Guess I will be going to Ibanez this year. One thing I like about Ibanez is how they change it up every year. Also, even the cheapest Ibanez guitar playes well. My first guitar was the Ibanez RG120, and I have to tell you, for the price it really was a nice playing guitar, but everything else about it was pretty crappy.
I don't own that guitar anymore, but I eventually bought a better Ibanez (RG421), and man it was like night and day difference. Though, my favorite of all of my three guitars, also including a Gibson V, is my Charvel M1.
The Charvel M1 is really loud unplugged, which I believe is a good thing for a guitar.Last edited by Death Angel; 01-18-2008, 01:35 AM.

I really expected a new M series imports at the very least. Im pretty surprised that didnt happen. Really expected the new PD sig too... Maybe theyre waiting to release it until Saturday? Jackson really needs to step up to the plate and start to wow the younger crowd, because thats whos buying the less expensive stuff.Imagine, being able to be magically whisked away to... Delaware. Hi... Im in... Delaware...

Especially after reading the blog on their myspace page:
We are really exited because we are going to have some just downright AMAZING Custom Shop guitars as well as unveiling some damn cool new models.

More like the adopted orphan.
Unfortunately FMIC is going to keep Jackson focused primarily at the Metal "market". While that was fine and dandy in the 80's when shredding and spandex were cool and Priest/Maiden were on top, it's a very small-wage market these days.
But, Fender covers all markets evenly - Country, Jazz, Rock, Metal, etc etc - and since they own most of their competition, they're able to impose an iron fisted rule under the guise of "focusing on the niche markets these brands are best suited for", which in reality is saying "if we own our competition and decide what resources are available to them, we can also dictate that they cannot compete directly with us, but we can compete directly with them".
High-profile players will get the Fender Strat or Tele of their choice, which is not too different from every other Strat or Tele they ever made, but by no means will they be put in the Jackson/Charvel camp. Even the J/C players on the list now will eventually be moved up to Fender, or they'll be dumped.
What's that Chelsea chick playing these days? Someone posted a pic of her ripping up a Charvel at NAMM a couple of years ago. Has she got a Strat sig yet? Bet she's not playing a Charvel, or a Jackson.
Expect Phil Collen to be playing a Fender-logoed PC-1, or an ESPee by the end of the year.
I guarantee they're also saying "Jackson doesn't need more maple boards. You want a maple board? Get a Fender."I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.

I was hoping for some new models, at least for some cool imports. But now with this disappointing Namm and a obvious price hype even for Jackson Stars, I think I have to look somewhere else for new guitars.
Thanks Jackson

I know some of you unhappy posters weren't here at the time, but I bet a fair number of JCFers can remember the mood around here when the first "Made in India" stickers started showing up on Jacksons a few years ago. That was in the legendary pre-Fender days, that mythical Golden Era that spawned a thousand tall tales on eBay. Someone at Jackson had the good sense to get the Professional series moved pretty promptly back to Japan. But that was when Korean factories were still a new thing for most brands. Now it's increasingly common for Korean-built guitars to be the "premium" models while the less expensive stuff is made in China. There gets to be a point where Jackson will have to move production to Soloist City #4 if there is a serious push to get into the market segment that Ibanez and LTD are occupying. Then people will start howling about the good ol' days of Japanese imports and such.
Sure, there's nothing terribly innovative coming out of Jackson HQ these days, but there have been FAR fewer duds than in the late `90s. How many models got dropped almost immediately upon release? The MG-series (all models) and DK2M have done pretty well. As signature models for guys who are NOT household names, the KBRR and COW have outlasted a lot of the ESP signature guitars. Hell, how long have the DK2 and SL3 been around for now? Despite falling short of the early `90s equivalents, they are good guitars that have lasted a long time now.
In other words, it could be a lot worse. But if someone else makes a guitar that it is a better fit for you, why would you be complaining about Jackson's lack of new offerings anyway?

I think something must have gone seriously wrong, it's not making sense...
Why are they announcing new models on their myspace page?
As you can see in this thread, Randy Davis talked about the Demmelition "import guitar line", of which he got to try one out... if they have prototypes or production models of it, why are they not shown at NAMM?
