I actually like the double rhoads size better. It's perfect..

MetalChurch - As Toejam said, the "King" in the King V name was because of Robbin "King" Crosby. He got the nickname because of his size (6'6" IIRC).
"King Size" ring any bells?
As for a Floyded V, the Demmel doesn't do it for everyone who wants a 24 fret Floyded import. Looks like a Dean copy to me.
the 23rd and 24th frets are like Tone knobs - don't use them if you don't want to. For those of us who can use them, leave them on.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

And subsequent King V's were scaled down from that, and then put into production. I may be wrong, but that' what I though all this time.
The Demmel doesn't do it for everyone, no you're right, and I'm beginning to not like the cut aways on it. But I would just like to see a 22 fret King V that's all.
You also may be right about the 23rd &24th frets just being there in case you need them, but every 24 fret that I've played felt different to me for some reason. like the neck was longer or the fret were closer together or something? Not sure but it felt weird in someway. Might be all mental?
Thanks for the insight NewC, you're the man!'Howling in shadows

The neck seems longer on a 24 fretter, yes. On a neckthrough, the neck is usually mounted on the body wings so that the 22nd fret is closer to the neck/body joint, so 24 frets provide better access to the 22nd fret.
Not sure if that's the case with Vs or if they just move the neck pickup back, but comparing the 22 fret USA SLS to a Custom Shop 24 fret SLS, the tip of the top horn is even with the 14th fret on the 24, and with the 12th fret on the 22.
And the KV was originally billed by Jackson as a Double Rhoads, but the King V name was given to it while it was still that size. It was not downsized until the late 80s, IIRC.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Yeah, I'm not real sure about the exact year either, maybe audiozone holds the answers? I'll have to look and see what I come up with.
I bought a new 2001 KVX10 and sold it 2 weeks later because it felt weird and different to me. It may have something to do with the neck pocket, or the pickups being closer together on a 24 compared to a 22?'Howling in shadows

Does anyone on here know anything at all about this supposed KV5 yet?
Is it actually going into production, or was this a 'what if'?
Thanks guys, I'm curious to see if it's true, and what the specs would be on it.'Howling in shadows

Yeah except the slanted bridge won't let it intonate properly. I've been through that w/ a KVX10 and I got pissed and sold it.
I regret it cause I could have put a Kahler 7300 Flatmount directly in it's place and been happy.'Howling in shadows
